After graduating from college with a Bachelors in Computer Information & System Sciences, Akua decided to revisit her dreams of becoming a Makeup Artist. As a graduate of Bennett Career Institute in D.C. with a concentration in Makeup Artistry, she has since worked on set for various projects including Real Housewives of Potomac, Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, Love and Hip Hop NY, Black Opal Cosmetics, Essence Magazine, Redskins.comTV, the Bad Boy Reunion Concert, and served as Key Makeup Artist for the Off Broadway production, Mighty Real: A Fabulous Sylvester Musical. In 2019, Akua created the beauty networking community Friends in Beauty whose events serve as a safe space to support like-minded creatives on their quest to connect, network, and build genuine relationships within the beauty community. In May 2020 she launched the Friends in Beauty Podcast where, every week, she and her special guest share the keys to longevity and success in the beauty industry.
