  • 7 Types of Loneliness

Loneliness is something you can’t avoid in life. There will be times when you feel lonesome, and you can live a happier life if you learn how to deal with it when it happens. To make that an easier process, psychologists have identified seven different types of loneliness.

    1. ‘New Kid’ Loneliness

Like being the new kid at school, there are times in your life when you’re in a completely new situation. Whether it’s a new job, a new city, or a new school, you’re likely to feel lonely in the beginning.

    2. Not Fitting in Loneliness.

This is the loneliness that strikes when you feel different from the people around you. You may be an introvert in a team of extroverts. Maybe your values aren’t shared with the people around you. You feel separate and different.

    3. Lack of Romance Loneliness

When you don’t have a partner, it can seem like everyone else in the entire world has a significant other. Or maybe you do have a partner, but you feel disconnected. That’s lonely.

    4. Missing a Pet Loneliness

There’s no company like that of your pet. Maybe you’re missing your dog, cat, or gerbil. Pets can provide a special connection, and when it’s not there, you really miss it.

    5. Too Busy for Me Loneliness

There are times in your life when it feels like you’re not a priority for anyone. People get busy with their own lives and leave you feeling stranded and alone.

    6. Toxic Fringes Loneliness

Worse than busy friends are toxic ‘friends’ who get their energy from belittling you or making you feel inadequate. If you don’t feel supported by your friends, or you feel you can't really trust them, they are not good friends to have in your life.

    7. Lack of Company Loneliness

Sometimes loneliness can come simply from not having anyone to hang out with. Someone just to share space and be with. It doesn’t matter if you’re busy at work or are out partying every night. A lack of a quiet presence can make you feel deeply lonely.

Once you've worked out what type of loneliness you’re feeling right now, you can take steps to address it. For example, if you’re missing having an animal in your life, you can adopt a pet or volunteer at the local animal rescue center.

Make time in your life for meaningful relationships, not the ones that don’t feed your soul. Look for people you share values or interests with, and slowly you will make connections that will banish loneliness.

If you or someone you know is feeling lonely, I can help.

  • Joshua-Sword of Israel

Listen to this episode to hear about Jericho, the oldest city in the world and Joshua's fight against the Canaanites. You'll also learn of Rahab, a harlot, that helps with the spying of the city. This is a short story but a great one - one in which movies could be written. The message:  each of us has the power - a gift of free will to decide what comes first in our lives. It also implies it is very easy to be tempted toward worshiping false gods with examples include the worship of money, power, physical appearance, social position or drinking, gambling, and sexual promiscuity. Joshua's words, "Choose you this day whom ye will serve".

    Blessings! :)

  • Forty Years of Wandering

The message of this episode is:  the more a person gives in to doubt, the longer he will have to wait for the rewards of faith. And, if he gives in to doubt completely, he may never taste those rewards at all. Listen to this episode to learn how Moses introduces the Ten Commandments and how for forty long years the children of Israel continued to live as nomads waiting for the promised day to come.

    Blessings! :)

  • "Let My People Go!"

    "Let My People Go!"

Moses was initially filled with self-doubt in this story of the Bible, "Let My People Go!". God tried numerous ways to convince him he would be by his side when asked to lead his people. We all may be filled with self-doubt at times. But, knowing God will be our strength, we can do anything. We should always strive to be the biggest and best version we can be so we can do the work we were put on earth to do for God's glory. Moses went from a self-doubting man to one filled with strength and confidence. Are you being the biggest self you can be?

    Blessings to all!

    Thank you for listening. :)

  • From Bulrushes to Burning Bush

    From Bulrushes to Burning Bush

The story of the burning bush can be read and understood on many levels. To the religious historian it might mark the transition from superstitious belief in fire gods or mountain spirits to an awareness of the omnipresent majesty of a single Creator. For those who respond to symbolism, it might be a way of describing how the spark of an idea can fall into a man's mind and leave him on fire with a burning desire to achieve some worthwhile goal.

May we not think that every painter, every musician, every writer, every poet, or indeed anyone who creates something beautiful or something true has within him his own burning bush. But, when the goal is a noble one, as it was in the case of Moses, it is also the voice of God speaking to you.

  • The Testing of The Brothers

    The Testing of the Brothers

In this Bible story, we learn that it takes a fine person to sense remorse in people who have wronged him and to give them credit for feeling such remorse. God uses us all for his own purposes and his divine timing. It takes a deeply religious person to see or sense in apparent affliction the mysterious workings of God. Joseph was both.

  • From Prisoner to Prince

    From Prisoner to Prince

This is such a great story - it shows how a man (Jacob) can be down as far as he could go but could soar above despite all the jealousy and ruthless challenges being thrown at him. In the end, Jacob prevailed. His love for God gave him strength!

  • The Return of the Exile

    The Return of the Exile

Listen to this great continuation of the story of Jacob, Rachel, Leah, Esau, Laban, and Benjamin (among a couple others). This story is on the shorter side compared to others but has significance as it depicts the amount of pressure Jacob was under wrestling whether to face his brother or to run away...again.

I won't spoil the end (for those that don't already know it-it's in the Bible). But, it ends quite differently than even I had anticipated.

  • The Shining Ladder

I always loved the story of Jacob's ladder.  The mere thought of a ladder stretched from earth to the heavens with angels ascending and descending to and from God is an incredible thought!  This is a story about Jacob's dream of the ladder.  Jacob's dream prompted him to start reaching out to the Lord and most importantly to pray.  Prayer is a powerful thing!  When you pray with passion and focus on scripture, I promise it will take your mind of any worries you may be experiencing.  At some point, we will touch on miracles with prayer on this podcast.  I am a witness to how prayer can bring miracles.  Miracles are real and do happen.  Prayer is the way to such miracles.  Listen to this short story about how Jacob returned to prayer.  The beginning of the story starts out a bit slow - my apologies. I've lost my voice a bit, but wanted to get back to sharing stories so pushed through on this one.

    Until next time.

  • Out Of Nothingness

Out Of Nothingness is the first story of the Bible of the Old Testament.  Some of these stories will, come from the great Normal Vincent Peale.  At times, we may need a different perspective on the wisdom of the Bible.  There are times, I myself, have difficulty understanding some of the books of the Bible.  Bible Stories provides a fresh visualization on the history of mankind.  Bear with me - something is pushing me to do this podcast project geared towards God's messages.  Life kept getting in my way until one night I felt something nudge me to 'get started, now!'. My voice is a bit weakened and raspy from speaking all day on the first 4 podcasts.  My apologies.  Regardless, I will continue to share these wonderful stories.  Even if there is one soul on this Earth that benefits and enjoys these stories, then I will consider this effort a superb accomplishment.

Enjoy the first story about how God created all out of nothing. This is where it all began...this Book of Books overshadows all others ever written towering aloft into the blue secrets of Heaven.
