The message of this story is that all worthwhile achievements, and ultimately civilization itself, rest on man's willingness to postpone immediate pleasures or benefits in favor of greater future rewards.  In any life, this kind of self-discipline is crucial.  Yet another message is deception can often bring sorrow.  Rebekah's foolish trick of disguising her youngest son as the oldest to her husband Isaac had ultimately backfired and brought her much anguish and grief.  Listen to this interesting story that can mimic current times.  How many times have we been guilty of trying to fool others to get our way?  Instant gratification is not a good thing.  There is definitely a hard lesson to be learned in this story. 

If you haven't had a chance to check out the many books written by Norman Vincent Peale, I encourage you to do so.  He is one of my favorite authors.  When I feel I don't quite understand a spiritual concept, I can find better understanding with Peale's many writings.

As the years pass and Sarah dies, Abraham yearns for his son Isaac to take a wife.  This is the story of how divine guidance brought Isaac and Rebekah together then as husband and wife.  Ask the Lord to direct you in your ways.  As your faith becomes stronger, you will believe the Lord can direct you far better than your own fallible human judgment.

God really tested Abraham in this story asking him to sacrifice his son Isaac.  Only until the final moment did God stop Abraham.  God was pleased with Abraham obeying.  The central message of this great story, one of the most moving and dramatic in the whole Bible, is plain.  The message is that if a person will just get his mind full of faith and let the faith thoughts drive out the fear thoughts, all will be well.  If that person will let strong belief replace the doubting thoughts, the weakness thoughts in his mind, he will gain enormous strength over all obstacles and difficulties.  This is why reading the Bible is so important.  Not just poetry, not just history, not just literature, although it is all those things, but as a reservoir of faith concepts that can release tremendous power in anyone who will use them.  For a fact, if you take a faith thought out of the Bible each day and drive it deep into your mind and dwell on it and nurture yourself on it, gradually you will become an indomitable individual and the sin and weakness and tensions of the world will no longer overwhelm you.

God promised a son to Abraham and Sarah and despite all odds, Sarah bore a son she named Isaac.  Nothing is impossible for our Lord.  The Bible is full of great thoughts to cling to when we meet difficulties and this story is one of the greatest.  It means that no matter how hopeless things seem, there is always someone to turn to, someone all wise and all powerful that in His presence problems simply melt away.  Remember that next time some thorny problem baffles you or some harsh difficulty threatens to overwhelm you.  Hand over the problem to God!  It is also during this story that Lot's wife turns into a pillar of salt when disobeying the angel's order of not looking back at the city of destruction.  The lesson is simply those who keep looking back and dwelling on the mistakes and sins of the past are likely to find themselves paralyzed and immobilized so far as moving into the future is concerned.  And, we are to beware of how we use the gift of free will.

The Tower of Pride is the fourth story of the Old Testament and is derived from the eleventh chapter of the Book of Genesis of the Old Testament.  A truly remarkable yet short story being only nine verses. The message is clear and simple:  put God first.  If a nation does this, it will complete its greatest projects and realize its proudest dreams.  If it doesn't, in the end confusion will come upon it, and its people will be 'scattered abroad on the face of the whole earth'.  

We are currently witnessing some very challenging times and should all heed this powerful message.

The Fantastic Voyage is the third story of the Old Testament.  One of the more well known of the stories includes Noah and the Ark.  God made his decision to demolish mankind and entrust in a man named Noah to save certain species so they could continue on and thrive after the great flood.  Noah had such blind faith in God and even if others thought he was crazy he still trudged forward and did as he was told by God.  

A new dawn, a new day and a fresh start for mankind.
