The shooting at MSU has sparked another heated political battle. Democrats are calling for more gun laws and Republicans are saying that the ones on the books need to be enforced. Within Ottawa County we have two hecklers of elected officials that are doing their best to get those officials fired from their jobs. Joseph F Spaulding of Holland and Walter "Mac" Davis are doing everything they can to harass the new commissioners and are even extending their reach to precinct delegates. Finally, the commissioners are being sued for their decision to replace the director of the health department so we will see where that goes.

The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners have fulfilled many of their campaign promises within the first day of taking office. They have been called everything from fascists to untransparent to unlawful. We'll look at what they did and how legal it is. The AG for the state of Michigan thinks she can find some problems with the actions of the board and is launching an investigation to protect all the unelected democrats in our county government from our elected Board of Commissioners. This shows her commitment to democracy and self-governance.  We also discuss some of the impotent arguments for how important the health director is. Finally, I am the only media outlet to report on the exposure of Doug Van Essen as a man more dedicated to sowing confusion than to working with the new commissioners in an honest way. Why are media outlets so unconcerned with government officials lying to their new bosses? We discuss today.

Democrats have not even taken office yet and they are proposing massive reform of the state's laws. HB 6544 would make it illegal to own a rifle. This bill may not go anywhere but it is a predictable development.  Gretchin Whitmer celebrates our small businesses but has never acknowledged the small business owner she arrested for operating. Republicans need to bring something to the table better than the potential for fraud and I discuss the differences between our state constitution and national constitution. Many parents have started attending their school board meetings upon learning that they had almost no control over their child's learning and that some teachers are using their platform to teach harmful ideologies to children. Some parents are motivated enough to run for the school board themselves. I spoke to Tommy Vanhill and Thomas Hoekstra this week and we will see what they have to say. Also, since the Mayor of GH didn't get addressed last week that's on the docket. GHHS curriculum director says she "resents" Grand Haven's Community. Proposal 3 lets children make their own decision about sterilization and finally we look at how mail in ballots are processed.
