Hello everyone. Happy February and a Happy 2022 to you all. I want to personally welcome you to the first episode of the year on the Honey Podcast. On this episode, I explore the emerging Arts in the year 2022 and more specifically the Art of music. Music is a form of Art that has attached itself to humanity like no other art and influenced culture immensely. Join me, your host, Nina, as I take a look at some of the new music from different genres across different regions in world, how they have influenced pop culture and also tell you which ones are my bangers and which are hangers for me.
I hope you enjoy this segment.
This is an episode that touches on recent music. I discuss why Nigerian and Tanzanian music have gained so much popularity in the western world and beyond in the recent year. I also look at some characteristics of the popularized music in depth to dissect why the music is gaining popularity. I also trace back long-standing musical sounds such as Cuban rumba in both Tanzania and Kenya. In doing so I look at some Kenyan artists who have curated a sound that can transcend borders.
On the second part of this music segment I briefly look at Summer Walker's recent album, Still over it and last but not least, I close this podcast episode with a music plug as I focus an artist who is gaining so much traction and is a force to reckon with.
Happy Holidays and I hope you enjoy this episode.
Nina.
