    The predictions just keep on coming but this time we are switching over to NCAA Men's College Basketball.

    Here on the HTP, the guys have been keeping a close eye on the College Basketball season by reacting to AP Polls, breaking down conferences and highlighting some of the most interesting college players in the country.

    Now March Madness really starts as conference tournaments have finished up and today marks Selection Sunday. For those who do not know Selection Sunday is the day where college basketball teams across the country are informed of what their seeding in the NCAA tournament if they have already punched their ticket OR they find out whether or not they made the cut to even make the tournament at all.

    With this in mind, the guys decided to make a list similar to the NCAA voting committee of teams who will just barely make it into the tournament and teams who will just miss the cut.

    On this edition of the Hoop Talk Podcast, Jay and Ryan make their predictions for who they believe will be the last 4 to make it into the tournament and the unlucky 4 that will be sent packing. These selections were determined based on things like strength of schedule, quality wins, conference tournament success and some other small criteria.

  • Hoop Talk Ep. 155: NBA Midseason Power Rankings & NBA Award Predictions

    Back at it again with some more NBA Midseason Predictions! We are all fresh off of All-Star Weekend and games are already beginning as teams gear up for the second half of the season.

    On this edition of the Hoop Talk Podcast, Jay and Ryan share their Top-10 NBA Power Rankings and compare their lists while analyzing some of the best teams in the NBA.

    This one was a really fun one because both guys had some interesting teams left off and certain teams higher/lower one person's lists than the other which really stirred up some controversial debate about the balance of power in the league.

    In the second half of the show, the guys put together and discuss their predictions for the NBA Awards based on what they have seen so far this season. The awards in question are the NBA MVP, Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, 6th Man of the Year and Most Improved Player.

    For those who are casual basketball fans, you are aware that the 2020 NBA rookie class is headlined by guys like Lamelo Ball in Charlotte, Anthony Edwards in Minnesota and James Wiseman over in Golden State.

    But as one of the most intriguing rookie classes in recent memory, this class has given us some very interesting talent from anywhere between the mid-first round down to the bottom half of the second round.

    At the top of the WCC is the Gonzaga Bulldogs once again who have owned the conference for the last five years or so and is undeniably a No. 1 Seed going into the NCAA tournament. But, they definitely have competition coming up the rear with teams like BYU, San Diego and San Francisco. To round out the Top-7, there is also Santa Clara, Pacific and LMU who has former Chino Hills forward Eli Scott who is well known for his time playing with the Ball Brothers.     This is one of those conferences in the NCAA that could orchestrate a handful of potential upsets on the first two days of the NCAA tournament. In this conference there is St. Bonaventure and VCU at the top followed by Stephen Curry's alma mater Davidson and the Saint Louis Billikens to round out the Top-4. Then to close out the Top-7 there is George Mason, 2020 NBA Lottery Pick Obi Toppin's alma mater in Dayton and the Richmond who had a statement win over Kentucky in the early stages of the season.
