Are you stuck? How to know if your healing journey is on track
Grief is so messy. Sometimes it makes you feel crazy. Nobody seems to have a handle on if you're on the path or not.
When Micah died I really wanted to "grieve well." I did a lot of therapy, body work, life coaching and self reflection. I hoped that if I grieved "best practices," I could shorten the process. I mean, I'm a trauma therapist! I knew all the right things.
But despite my best efforts, I haven't been able to short change the process. Normal grief adaptation is three to five years. I HATED when people told me that. But here I am, 3 years out, feeling the beginnings of rhythm and consistency.
Complex bereavement is a therapeutic name for a diagnosis that means that you've gotten stuck. Grief is crazy. Grief is unpredictable. There's no easy path. But there are some markers that you're not progressing that you've gotten stuck.
If you or a friend or family member have stopped in the healing process, this episode will help you break through and make strides to keep going on your healing journey.
