Rachael talks about what happens to your mind, body and calendar when you lose a spouse, child or parent.
Loss of executive functioning, the shock that fights to ward off the new reality. Managing the business of death. Finding yourself at your own line in the sand.
Family and friends will behave in ways that cause you pain in a bad game of grief bumper cars.
Rachael walks you through the weeks and months of losing Micah to help you navigate your own unique experience of death and grieving.
Through it all, Rachael reminds you of the hope that is here, walking one hour, one day at a time.

The groundwork for Rachael’s complex post traumatic stress disorder was laid in her childhood experience of growing up with her abusive father.
Rachael’s dad was schizophrenic, bipolar and borderline personality disorder. He hid his mental illness with charisma and charm that fooled all of those he worked for, lead and went to church with.
When Rachael began to process the extensive abuse of her childhood, an element of “crazy making” became very distinct as no one could believe that this upstanding member of their community had been physically violent, spiritually manipulative, and unfaithful in his marriage.
Through extensive therapy, Rachael worked desperately to bring order from the chaos of growing up in a home with no stability from a parent who saw the world differently than other healthy adults.
In 2021, after contracting Covid, Rachael‘s father‘s advanced-early onset- dementia could no longer be hidden. In this episode of the hopecast, Rachael talks about going to great lengths to become her dad‘s guardian in order to get him necessary care. Listen to hear how God’s great love carried Rachael to be able to care for the man who had shattered her soul.
