Lt. Col. Allen West shares the simple, achievable principles that his family instilled in him that contributed to his military and political success. Born into poverty in a "blacks only" hospital, Col. West chose to follow in his father's footsteps by serving in the US Army. West completed tours in combat, earning the honor of the Bronze Star. Lt. Col. West describes how his role models, including Booker T. Washington, empowered him to break glass ceilings, climb ladders of ranking and achieve political influence. Lt. Col. West believes the simplicity of his father and mother's support is a strategy for influencing and rebuilding the nuclear family as a pathway for personal growth and success.
