Marriage is hard. It's messy. There's no part of your life that a spouse doesn't see when the two become one. And all of that is just what normal, mutually committed couples experience! But what happens in a marriage when one partner regrets their commitment and stops doing the hard work of investing in the marriage? What recourse does someone have when their spouse decides to opt out, without actually leaving? Tracey Lynn Russell came face to face with this difficult conflict, when the man of her dreams decided he wished he hadn't married her. After consulting seven counselors, with a one year old baby, Tracey made the gut wrenching decision to employ some tough boundaries in her marriage and allow her husband to walk away. Tracey read "Love Must Be Tough" by Dr. James Dobson, and acted to end the dysfunctional pleaser and avoider attachment style. When Tracey learned of Mark's unfaithfulness in their marriage, she became resolute in her desire for divorce. Now, she and Mark are remarried with four children and have celebrated more than 20 years of marriage with each other. Listen to this episode to hear how God softened their hearts, led them through healing and brought them back together.
