Tucked away in a small market town in the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, England, sits a storied building so terrifying that ghost hunters who have explored it vow to never stay alone. The Ancient Ram Inn is hundreds of years old and those who have been brave enough to visit claim there is a dark and oppressive energy residing within. The claims about its past paint a picture of violence, tragedy, and misfortune that lead many to believe a darkness now calls this building home, and some even go as far as saying it is the most haunted house in England. There are stories of wild poltergeist activity, sightings of full bodied apparitions, and even physical attacks on investigators who enter looking for proof of the paranormal. It’s been described by some paranormal investigators as one of the darkest places they’ve ever encountered. Even the once Bishop of Gloucester, Rev. John Yates, is said to have attempted an exorcism on the building but was unsuccessful, being quoted as saying it was, "the evilest place I have ever had the misfortune to visit.” And today we will be telling its story.
