E48 - Chat GPT, Voice A I example and a new monthly zoom group invite for you
We are starting a monthly Zoom Podcast Hang out starting in February 2023 on the first Friday of each month starting at 10 am est
Why 10 am? I will be getting home from working an overnight shift, so we will try this time slot for now and adjust/add to it depending on your response!
If 1 person attends - great, more than one great!
In preparing for this monthly get together, I wanted to play with Chat GPT
I asked Chat GPT - Why is building community important in podcasting?
Here was the response from Chat GPT to my question,
"Building a community around your podcast can be beneficial for a number of reasons.
First and foremost, having a community of listeners can help to build a sense of loyalty and engagement with your show.
When listeners feel like they are part of a community, they are more likely to continue listening to your podcast and to recommend it to others.
Additionally, having a community can provide a source of feedback and ideas for future episodes.
This can help to keep your content fresh and relevant, and can also help to ensure that you are meeting the needs and interests of your listeners.
Finally, a strong community can serve as a source of support and encouragement, which can be especially important if you are just starting out as a podcaster."
I went a step further and asked Chat GPT to apply their answer to a group zoom call for podcasters.
I asked Chat GPT the following...
"How do we do this on a zoom group chat?"
Here was the response from Chat GPT
There are several ways that you can build community within a Zoom group chat:
1. Encourage participation:
Encourage group members to ask questions, share their thoughts, and engage in discussions.
2. Foster a sense of inclusivity:
Make sure that everyone feels welcome and valued within the group.
3. Be responsive:
Be sure to respond to questions and comments in a timely manner, and encourage other group members to do the same.
4. Encourage sharing:
Encourage group members to share resources, recommendations, and other relevant information with one another.
5. Create a sense of belonging:
Help group members feel like they are part of a shared experience by using in-jokes, inside jokes, and other shared experiences.
6. Plan regular events:
Consider organizing regular events or activities, such as virtual happy hours or book clubs, to help build a sense of community within the group.
7. Make it fun:
Find ways to make the group chat enjoyable and engaging for all participants.
By following these tips, you can help to create a sense of community and belonging within your Zoom group chat.
So, that 's it - Chat GPT can be a great starting point for creating ideas for content - just remember, people are listening to your podcast to connect with you - not a podcast created by a software tool.

E47 - What is Working and What I Need to Improve on as a Podcaster
So we are nearing the end of 2022 - Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to everyone!
As I close off a great podcast year, full of new friendships, great connections and growth - both personally and for my various podcasts. I just wanted to look back at some things that went well for me and something that I dropped the ball on this year - there is always room for improvement.
On December 1st I started a daily podcast for 25 episodes - counting down to Christmas. The podcast was called the Daily Santa Podcast. Each episode was 12-20 mins in length and took 4 to 5 hours to script, create, record and edit - add on social media promotion and website updates, this was a monster task - keep in mind some podcasters don't progress past episode 7 when they start a show.
I wanted to try a daily podcast, and more importantly - I wanted to create content for families to gather around and use to help everyone be better humans!
Check it out if you have a chance - I would love to hear your thoughts on this podcast!
So, my challenge for you whether you have started your podcast or not - what have you done well in 2022 and what can you improve on in the new year?
Be very aware of what is going well and where you could improve - this is the key to growth!
Wishing you safety, health and happiness in the new year - I can't wait to celebrate your new podcast in 2023 - I would be honoured to be apart of your new show!

E42 - Going The Extra Mile What Does It Mean For Content Creators and Podcasters with Guest CO HOST - Tamzin Hall
Where did the term/saying "To go the extra mile" come from? The first records of the phrase go the extra mile come from around 1900. It’s a reference to a line from Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount in the Bible: “If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.” Many people interpret it to mean that they should always try to do more than is asked of them.
In historical times, the Jews resented and even hated the Romans because of the Roman Empire's heavy-handed taxes and laws. One of those laws required anyone twelve years or older to carry a soldier's gear for an entire mile if they were asked. It was in light of that law that Jesus taught the principle of going an extra mile. When we go beyond the basics, the law, the minimum requirement - in this case carrying a soldier's gear for a mile out of our way. we find that as we volunteer to go the extra mile, it is in that moment that our audience truly connects with us and people see that we truly care - we go beyond legal requirements and do the extra! How does this relate to podcasting?

EPISODE 41 - CO-HOST - Tamzin Hall On Motivating Our Fellow Podcasters and Apple Versus Android
Tamzin shared her Jar System - how to keep those thoughts, comments and words of encouragement handy to keep you motivated as a content creator and podcaster!
Here are some suggestions for the Jar...
- Confidence Jar - add a note into a jar of all the times you have been and felt confident. When you are feeling like you need a confidence boost, reach into the jar and you have all the evidence you need.
- Mindfulness Jar - fill the jar with mindful activities you love, then when you are feeling overwhelmed, reach into the jar and pull a note out. I have a pre-made jar that was given to me.
- I am Great Jar - fill your jar with post-it notes, notes and words of all the time someone has given you a compliment, testimonial or said something nice to you.
- Happiness Jar - fill your jar with times, experiences and examples of all the times you have been happy. As you navigate throughout your days, and you feel happiness, add notes to your jar.
- Gratitude Jar - at the end of each day, add three things you are grateful for into your jar. When you need a boost of gratitude - dip your hand in your jar.

Android maintained its position as the leading mobile operating system worldwide in November 2022, controlling the mobile OS market with a close to 71 percent share, while iOS accounted for around 28 percent of the mobile operating system market
- US Numbers: iOS 54.42% Android 45.25%
- Canada Numbers: iOS 58.47% Android 40.94%

Remember to include both Android and Apple Users in your Call To Action Requests - if you focus on only one platform at the expense of the other, you may alienate a portion of your audience by doing so!

Episode 40 - All Things Interviewing for Guests and Hosts with Guest CO HOST - Tamzin Hall
In this episode of the How To Podcast Series, host Dave welcomes co-host Tamzin Hall from the south coast of the UK for an engaging dive into mastering podcast interviews as both guests and hosts. Broadcasting from Canada near Niagara Falls, they kick off with light-hearted chit-chat about appreciating local wonders—like soaking in the beauty of everyday landmarks such as Big Ben or the iconic falls—before tackling why podcasting journeys sometimes stall despite consistent effort.
Tamzin, drawing from her extensive background in interviewing, job searches, and psychology, stresses authenticity as the cornerstone: be uniquely yourself, stay true to your values, and ensure guests align with your podcast's purpose and audience. They discuss vetting guests through pre-call chemistry checks to avoid misfits, much like rejecting mismatched clients, and how to politely decline by framing it as "This might not serve my listeners best," encouraging invitees to research your show first. For new hosts nervous about interviews, start with trusted network contacts for relaxed, conversational vibes rather than rigid Q&A scripts—outlines help, but true listening sparks natural follow-ups and genuine connections that captivate audiences.
Mindset emerges as pivotal: pressure amplifies nerves in podcasts (less high-stakes than job interviews where livelihoods hang in balance), so clear mental space with 15-20 minutes pre-show for walks, meditation, or grounding breaths—feet on the floor to refocus amid distractions. Schedule buffers between sessions to reduce overwhelm, fostering presence that elevates hosts, guests, and listeners alike.
Key Takeaway: Authenticity and mindset preparation turn interviews into magical conversations—align guests to your audience, listen deeply, and enter relaxed to serve brilliantly.
Tamzin Hall is joining us to discuss guesting on and hosting guests on a podcast. Tamzin has a great deal of insight from a professional business background, and joins us from the fabulous United Kingdom! Join in on the conversation as we suggest strategies to build up your interview skills!
