The Hundred Club

The Hundred tournament starts on 3 August 2022, and Trent Rockets will want to match last year's strong performance.  They have kept the core of their squad to do that, centred on the superstar that is Rashid Khan. Even when he is on Afghanistan duty, they will bring in the very experienced South Africa international Tabraiz Shamsi.  In the batting, they will hope domestic stars Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Alex Hales live up to their price tags. And, for at least a few games, there is some bloke called Joe Root who we quite like...!  This is The Hundred Club: a community for fans of short format cricket.

The Hundred tournament starts on 3 August 2022, and Oval Invincibles have assembled a really well balanced squad.  Mohammad Hasnain is an exciting addition to work with the all-rounder Curran brothers and Sunil Narine. Plenty of batting power in the mix too, particularly if Jason Roy can re-discover some form.  Might they make it to the eliminators this year?  This is The Hundred Club: a community for fans of short format cricket.

The Hundred tournament starts on 3 August 2022, and it will start without Ben Stokes. He's pulled out of the tournament (as well as retiring from England ODIs) to balance his work load as the new Captain of England's test team. That is fair enough, but where does it leave the Northern Superchargers? Rich and Tom think it leaves the squad looking older and more patchy than most. Faf du Plessis had a great IPL 2022, but Dwayne Bravo, David Wiese and Wahab Riaz haven't been so hot. Maybe Adil Rashid can repeat his 2021 heroics and become the difference?  This is The Hundred Club: a community for fans of short format cricket.

The Hundred tournament starts on 3 August 2022. No-one will be watched more closely through the tournament than Jos Buttler.  The new England ODI and T20 Captain had a sensational IPL in 2022. But form has dipped since he returned to the UK, and he'll be keen to take his team to glory in The Hundred.

He's got some big hitters alongside too: Andre Russell, Phil Salt, Laurie Evans. But it's not clear what Rich thinks putting Wanindu Hasaranga in at #3 in the batting... they'll need his magic bowling to take the wickets!

The Hundred tournament starts on 3 August 2022. Since a disappointing 2021, the Welsh Fire franchise have made some big changes...  If England duties allow, the batting firepower looks awesome with Jonny Bairstow, Ollie Pope, Ben Duckett, David Miller... but what happens when test duties start calling?

Will Adam Zampa prove the doubters wrong once and for all? And will Naseem Shah's pace or Noor Ahmad's mystery spin be the best option?

The Hundred tournament starts on 3 August 2022. London Spirit finished bottom of the group stage in 2021 and suffered the tragic loss of their head coach Shane Warne over the winter. How will the team return in 2022?

Rich and Tom think the squad certainly looks better on paper. Will #1 draft pick Kieron Pollard live up to the price tag? Will Eoin Morgan rediscover his form without the England captaincy? Or is it up to Glenn Maxwell to provide the star quality?

The Hundred tournament starts on 3 August 2022. Southern Brave men are the reigning champions and head coach Mahela Jayawardene has stuck with the winning formula, with a lot of the squad carried over from 2021.

Can Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis and James Vince pile on the runs? Will Chris Jordan, George Garton and Tymal Mills tie down the opposition? And does the middle order look a little out of form?

When it comes to The Hundred, Matt Roller is perhaps the best informed journalist going.  Rich and Tom enjoyed a chat about all things The Hundred with him, focussing on the recent draft.  Why were some players left undrafted? What styles of play will we see in 2022? How much cricket will we see from the overseas stars?  As the ECB's current "CMJ Young Cricket Journalist Of The Year" and an Assistant Editor as ESPN CricInfo, Matt regularly breaks the news on The Hundred before anyone else.

With the players list announced and the draft just days away, Tom and Rich speculate on how The Hundred 2022 Men's draft will play out.

Rich and Tom react to some interesting decisions. There is no sign of Shefali Verma at Birmingham Phoenix, Tammy Beaumont is missing from London Spirit and the Trent Rockets have had a clear-out!  Who has the most work to do before all of the contracts are signed and announced on 30 March 2022?
