  • Episode #37 Addiction and Freedom with William Hamilton and Anshan Li

In this episode we discuss this question:  "Is an addiction another form of slavery, i.e., does it take away our freedom?"

The word addiction stems from the Roman Myth Addictus. Addictus was a freed slave who still walked around with his chains even though he could have taken them off at any point because he had become so used to wearing them. We use this story as a jumping off point to discuss the relationship between addictions and freedom and the nature of addictions more broadly.

The question we invite you guys to answer is: "What thing that is not considered an addiction today, will be considered one in the future?"

  • Episode #32 Why the relationship between Power and Power exertion is equal to Y = x^2
In this short episode, I explore the effects of an individual's power on their willingness to exert that power. More specifically, I argue that the relationship between an individual's perceived power and the percentage of that perceived power they're willing to wield acts like the graph Y = (x-5)^2, where x is between [0,10].
(Side note: I have not conducted any research to construct this theory, it is based off of intuition and thinking about human behavior, so I will happily take feedback. Submitting feedback on Spotify is very easy, simply click the rely button next to the Q&A "What do you think of this episode," and type out your thoughts)
