Mark's ending validity is contested by many, but that doesn't mean its message isn't biblical. 

In this reading, Jesus gives final instructions to His followers before He ascends in victory to reign at the right hand of the Father. 

Jesus appears to his disciples in Galilee. In this episode Jesus is cooking breakfast for His disciples and when they realize who He is Peter jumps in the water and swims to Jesus. 

After Jesus' resurrection, Thomas needed to experience Jesus for himself. And Jesus didn't judge him for needing that proof - instead he gave Thomas what he needed so that he would believe.

Jesus makes another appearance in his resurrected form to the disciples. He shares a meal with them and opens their eyes to his fulfillment of the scriptures. 

The risen Jesus breaths upon his disciples (think Genesis 2:7) and tells them to receive the Holy Spirit. He then commissions them by saying, "As the Father has sent Me, I now send you."

In John, we get a glimpse into the post-resurrection appearances of Jesus.  

Here we see an encounter with Jesus that Peter needed desperately, as Jesus restores Peter and then gives him a renewed purpose.
