Micah comes during a time when Assyria is a threat to the northern kingdom of Israel and the southern kingdom of Judah. His warning is dire and God has come to judge both Samaria and Jerusalem. Micah repeatedly tells the people that God cares for the poor, for truth, and for human rights. 

David is calling to the Lord for deliverance. What is most striking about this Psalm is the integrity of the Psalmist. When people are fully integrated with their beliefs and they practice what they preach they tend to be happy and fulfilled people. 

The people have returned from Exile but they have not put their whole hearts into rebuilding the Temple. They have failed to realize the importance of God's presence in their lives. The Temple was God's dwelling and they are missing out on the blessings of God's presence with His people. 

The Israelites, because they were focused on their own homes and lives, have neglected to complete the temple of the Lord. Through Haggai, God calls His people to "Work!", and that His grace is greater than their sins and failures.

Haggai delivers his message from the Lord. THe people of God have not placed Yahweh as their center and first priority and so God has shut up the heavens in response. The people respond to recommit and God gives them the spirit to do so.

Haggai prophecies to Israel once they have returned home from exile. It is the year 520 BC when he begins his prophecy. The theme of today's podcast is "Where do you put your priorities?" 

David rests securely in the Lord. He gives three reasons for his security. First, God will raise us from the dead. We don't have to fear death. Second, God guides us through His word. We don't have to try to figure everything out on our own. God guides us. Last, God is with us through His divine presence. In the toughest of times, God will go with us. 

Israel had returned home from exile but things were not as expected. Zechariah lays out a future hope of God's presence and a reversal of fortune for His people. 

We may not understand all the things that happen to us but we can have faith that God will always remain true to His promises. When things are difficult in our lives we can put our trust in God and his lovingkindness and faithfulness. 

Zechariah begins to receive his night visions from Yahweh. Angels moving about the earth, concerned for its well-being and the well-being of Jerusalem. Being of the intercessory actions of the angel of the Lord it seems, Yahweh is willing to establish his throne again in Jerusalem!
