Today, Pastor Bill teaches over the scripture regarding Jesus’ betrayal. Judas brought a crowd with him in the middle of the night and Jesus went willingly. He knew His time to save the world had come. However, some of His followers weren’t so keen to let their Savior go quietly. Peter, in particular, wanted to go down fighting. One minute he’s unsheathing his sword, and a few hours later, he’d deny Jesus three times. Jesus’ care and love for His followers is evident in his reaction to Peter’s denial.

God encourages us to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all people. He desires that we have friendships with nonbelievers. He wants us to be in the company of people who need Jesus. But not to the detriment of our own relationship with Him. In today’s message, Pastor Bill asks about how you spend your time? Who you’re with? What do you post? What do your conversations sound like? You can’t always be bombarded with temptation and then expect to make it through life on the narrow path.

God sees all, knows all, and oversees all things. The enemy isn’t allowed to mess with one hair on your head without permission from God first. In the Bible, we read accounts of both Job and Peter being sifted by the Devil. We may never know exactly why God allows such things, but also, we need to trust that He has a master plan that is bigger than you and me. In today’s message, Pastor Bill also reminds us that Jesus prayers for us. What a gift that the Father and Son of the universe love and care for each of us!

If you fail a test, does that mean that you’re a failure altogether? No, it just means that you slipped up in a way that you didn’t fully understand the material or you misunderstood the content of what the test was about. But you as a person are most definitely not a failure. In today’s teaching, Pastor Bill provides Peter as an example of someone who made some mistakes. But Peter also goes on to be an important leader in the early church. That should give you hope that you can rise above the fall.

As a kid, you’re supposed to ask permission to get a cookie out of the cookie jar. It’s encouraged that you get approval from your parent or authority about who you date or marry. In all of it, there’s an underlying respect for whoever’s in charge. Well today, Pastor Bill encourages you to think of this topic in a way that takes an interesting turn. Satan has to ask permission to do anything to God’s followers. Although that may seem hard to grasp or understand, the enemy can’t get to you without permission.

When was the last time you put others above yourself? Deep down, you might really want to be treated like a king or queen, but when you treat others better than yourself, it tells something about your character. However, Pastor Bill mentions today that the message you get from the world around you is to do whatever it takes to be number 1. This is not the mentality that God wants you to foster in your heart. Instead of looking out for yourself, look out for the person next to you and serve them!

We may not carry pictures in our wallets much anymore, we’re more likely to have our loved ones featured on our phone’s screen, but as Pastor Bill will explain in today’s message, those pictures are not our loved ones – they’re just a representation of them. We look at them and we’re reminded of those individuals. That’s kind of what communion is for Christians. The elements aren’t Jesus – they’re just a representation of Him. While we shouldn’t worship the elements, we should certainly respect them.

You don’t need to be afraid of the Devil. He’s very real and he’s the epitome of evil. He was an angel of light, created by God, given the opportunity to glorify and serve Him eternally, but he was selfish and wanted power and glory for himself. As Pastor Bill will explain in today’s message, our spiritual enemy is not all-powerful, all-present, or all-knowing like God. He has a lot of power, but his failure and defeat are certain, and as Children of God we can have confidence as we resist his attacks.

News media thrives amidst hardship and chaos. Many journalists may have good motives – they may simply want to bring truth to people – making for an informed public, but, the industry itself relies on bad news. To put it simply, the more bad news there is, the more money they can make. While there’s nothing wrong with being informed, Pastor Bill will warn in today’s message that we should be careful not to become obsessed and overwhelmed. Things are bad, but Christ is good and His hope is sure.
