Many who read the account of Adam and Eve’s consequences for sinning in the Garden of Eden see God as angry and full of wrath. However, as Pastor Bill explains today, God’s reaction and the consequences He gave to the first sin are really an act of grace and salvation. If they’d stayed in the garden and eaten from the tree of life in their sinful state, they would’ve lived forever eternally separated from Him. God may kick you out of something great, but in the end, it’s in mercy and for your good.

God cursed Adam and Eve in the garden after their sin. He cursed Man’s work with thorns, difficulty and failure. He cursed Woman with pain and sorrow in having a family. And ultimately, because of sin, there would be tribulation in the marriage relationship. Today, Pastor Bill explains the grace that God offers during this discipline. The only way to meet unmet expectations is with Jesus. Look to Him! No one can ever meet any desires, hopes or expectations except Jesus. Seek Him first.

When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, there were consequences to that sin. These consequences were significant to both the man and woman and all who came after. The devil is defeated, but still a presence in this world, who fights hard for your allegiance. Today, Pastor Bill will remind you that when you’re in warfare with the enemy, put on the armor of God. You must have great expectations of what God will do and draw near to Him as you resist the enemy.

When Eve ate the fruit, God mourned His broken creation. Yet, He didn’t just give up on what He started. He, in all graciousness came to them in the garden, and patiently sought them out. Today, Pastor Bill reminds you that God wasn’t seeking them to be angry or destroy them, He was seeking them to save them! Though Adam and Eve tried to cover their sin up, deny it happened, and blame others, God knew where they were and what they had done. He seeks you today to save you not condemn you.

Do you ever claim “that’s just who I am” when you explain your sin? Today, Pastor Bill challenges you to not use your inherent sin problem to justify and excuse why you choose to sin. He’ll remind you that though she was deceived, Eve chose to sin. Because of the Holy spirit within you, you have the power to say no to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life that leads to sin. You can choose to have integrity, to practice generosity, and exhibit humility and serve others.

The tactics Satan used on Eve are the methods he uses to tempt people still today. Today, Pastor Bill explains the pattern of temptation that the enemy uses with everyone in this world. He causes lust of the flesh – a desire to feel something. He causes lust of the eyes – a desire to have something forbidden and pleasant. And he causes pride of life – a desire to be someone important. But with the strength of Jesus, you can answer back to these temptations. Live a life of integrity, character, generosity and humility!

God allowed Satan in the garden with Adam and Eve. He will eventually get rid of the devil forever, but for now, we must face off against this enemy daily. When Satan was in the garden tempting Eve, he attacked God’s word and sowed lies in her heart. Instead of fleeing from him, she listened to him. She engaged with the devil and thus gave into temptation and sin. Today, Pastor Bill challenges you – don’t listen! When satan talks to you, quote scripture, stay strong, put on your whole armor of God.

Today Pastor Bill implores you to never add to or take away from God's word. When the serpent was convincing Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, she added to what the Lord instructed. She told the serpent that she must not touch the fruit when the Lord had only directed them not to eat the fruit. Eve added to what God instructed, and as Pastor Bill points out, this was the first case of legalism. When you add to the Word of God, it always leads to bondage, backsliding and bitterness.

The Devil uses half-truths and lies to get into your head. But as Pastor Bill teaches today, you have a powerful weapon at hand, the Word of the Lord. The only problem is, you have to know what is in the Bible to fight off the evil one. You need to know exactly what it says, not what your pastor tells you, not what your spouse shares with you; YOU need to know what is in the Bible. So if you have been relying on others to tell you what is in Scripture, take some time to read it yourself.

One thing Pastor Bill is passionate about, is that it's not good to be alone. God also recognized this in the garden and created a helper for Adam. Why is it not good to be alone? Because you where created for relationship, with your creator and with other humans. What happens when you are alone? Well for Pastor Bill he starts thinking and he becomes discouraged and depressed.
