Do you know what's silly? When we ask God for help or advice, and then ignore what He says. I don't know about you, but when I go back to my way of doing things or how I think, I get nowhere. Scripture tells us that Jesus is the way. He shows us the way. He came and died so that we could have a relationship with Him. Do you believe it? This is what will bring joy that LASTS. Hearing the voice of Jesus and embracing what He has for you. Now that's a full, blessed life! This is the message from Pastor Bill.

It's the only thing that matters. Jesus. The real deal. The giver of every good thing, like JOY. You can be happy, but how long will it last? It's like eating a whole bunch of sweets and then feeling sick later. Great in the beginning and then it just wears off, leaving you feeling uncomfortable. Genuine satisfaction can only come from God. BUT. What happens if you don't have a relationship with Him? Then you can't hear Him tell you exactly what would bring YOU joy. And that you're loved! People were believing what John the Baptist was teaching. There was a movement of faith. No hiccups or bumps. Seemingly smooth and easy...until it's NOT. JOY shouldn't be dependent on what career you have or how well your day's unfolding. Or the things you have. Or what people say to you. Friends, don't base your happiness on worldly things that change.

If something's given to you that's too wonderful for words would you only take a part of it or all of it? To me, taking only a portion of it doesn't make sense, but that's what we do sometimes. We have faith in God, but we don't open the door to our lives to Him. We don't accept His gift of salvation. Keeping our hands tight on the steering wheel doesn't allow His power to drive us in the direction that's best for us. This guy has done all the studying. He's like a walking religious dictionary for people in Bible times. His knowledge of the law is beyond anyone else, and yet he gets told it's not enough. One of the enemy's greatest lies is that going to church makes you a Christian. Nicodemus was a religious elite who was intrigued by Jesus and His miracles. Nicodemus was born into the right family, given the right education, and made a religious leader. Jesus made it very clear to Him that none of those things could get him into heaven. Have you ever thought about how awful It would be if everyone could know your worst thoughts? I mean, we get into enough trouble with the ones that we actually speak. Go to church on Sunday, put some money in the offering plate, and then head to lunch. The motions only matter if your heart is engaged.
