After overcoming a career ending injury, Ryan Hill pivoted and began a different path that led him to being a principal at a high school at 35. We discuss the challenges and some divine interventions that led him to where he is today.

After an onslaught of injuries while playing, he decided to take up coaching. He was the second youngest pitching coach in Major League Baseball at age 33. His coaching style has been able to blend the heart of an athlete with data of sabermterics to create one of the best pitching rosters in Major League Baseball.

My guest today, Ryan Armstrong, and I go way back to high school. We started a non-sanctioned organization when I was a freshman that was shut down by the school. We lost touch over the years but then reconnected when our professional paths crossed a few years ago while both our companies were in start up mode. We go down memory lane but also discuss the perseverance it took for us both to succeed in our own ways.

This is the story of a nonprofit Steven Whitehouse and I started back in 2017. We had no idea what we were doing but we had a goal and that was to take 12 guys playing golf together on Steven’s birthday into an organization to help others. Since then we have raised over $400,000 in the past six years. You’ll notice we go back to 2006 in the podcast as this success story took 11 years to get off the ground. We are still not sure how we got here but we walk down memory and reflect of what God has done through a bunch of knuckleheads that went to high school together.
