In this interview, Lakunle Ogunlesi, a graduate of Olabisi
Onabanjo University discusses his journey from animal science to fashion. He shares his experience as a premium and luxury stylist at Gawd Studios, a
fashion designer at Yinka Samuel's, and working as a fashion creative for Tokyo James from 2017 to 2020. He has been on brand advertising as a premium stylist for over two years now for Budweiser, Hero Trophy, Samsung, Lacasera, Eko Hotels, and Power Oil.
Ogunlesi's transition from animal science to fashion was
challenging, but it was necessary for him to learn and adapt to the changing fashion landscape in Nigeria. He learned from Tokyo James and has since worked with notable brands such as Budweiser, Hero Trophy, Samsung, Lacasera, Eko Hotels, and Power Oil.
Ogunlesi's creative style is characterized by experimental
designing, which can be seen on runways and magazine covers. He designs more when he is heartbroken, finding a balance between focus and distractions. He also uses pop colors to create magic for dark-skinned individuals. His style icons include Alexander Macqueen, Frank Oshodi, Mai Atafo, and others who use much of the Ofi approach in their designs.
