  • Will China change its policy on dams? | Inside Story
It's been described as a once-in-a-generation event. Floods have swamped large parts of Southern & Central China after the worst torrential rains in decades.
Many people are dead or missing. Whole villages are inundated and millions of people displaced.

Nearly two months of intense rains have swelled 433 rivers - with water in some reaching record levels.
The Chinese authorities have raised flood alerts and deployed soldiers to evacuate people and shore up levees.
Seasonal rains are common in China, but this year's flooding has been exceptional and early.
Some environmentalists blame climate change. And others are raising concerns about the country's dams.
Among them is the Three Gorges, that has been struggling with extreme flows of water.
The dam was once a source of great national pride.

  • Can anyone fill the Huawei void? | Inside Story
It's seen as a major blow for Chinese technology and a win for U.S. President Donald Trump.
The UK says it's banning China's Huawei 5G from its networks.
The British government says the decision was not easy, but right for national security and the economy.
The move comes as the U.S. intensifies its campaign against the tech giant.
And it reverses the UK's attempt in January to allow restricted use of Huawei's equipment.
From the end of this year, UK operators will not be allowed to buy the firm's 5G kits.
Gear already in place will have to be removed by 2027.
The UK has reportedly asked Japan to help build its internet infrastructure instead.
What does it mean for the timeline of 5G services?
    Presenter: Sami Zeidan
    Guests
Simon Lacey, former Vice President of Global Government Affairs at Huawei Technologies in Shenzhen, China.
