  • Is U.S. opinion shifting on the Israel-Palestine conflict? | Inside Story
The United States has traditionally been Israel's most important ally.
But American politicians and the public are increasingly challenging Washington's long-standing and unquestioned loyalty.
Progressive Democrats pressured President Joe Biden to demand a ceasefire on Gaza, and they want weapons sales to Israel to stop.
Recent polls show Americans, including younger American Jews, are showing more support for the Palestinians.
So how will this shift affect future ties?

  • What's behind the migrant crisis between Morocco and Spain? | Inside Story
Many migrants using inflatable rings and dinghies have often made the dangerous journey from Morocco into Spain.
But this week an influx of at least 8,000 was unusually high, threatening a humanitarian crisis.
Many were young men, but there were also families and unaccompanied minors.
At least one person died making the crossing.
Thousands have been expelled by the Spanish authorities.
Campaigners are worried the migrants' rights have been violated during what they describe as a 'rapid pace of expulsions'.
The number of arrivals has now dropped after what appears to be an attempt by Morroccan authorities to tighten border controls.
Police scuffled with people as they tried to force their way into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.
The event has caused a diplomatic row between the two countries.
So, how does this affect the migration across Europe?
    Presenter: Mohammed Jamjoom.
    Guests:
Catherine Woollard, Secretary General of European Council on Refugees and Exiles
Ruth Ferrero, Lecturer in Political Science and Senior Researcher at Complutense University of Madrid
Lahcen Haddad, Strategic Affairs Analyst and former Moroccan minister.

  • Can governments give up using fossil fuels to save the climate? | Inside Story
The world's leading energy agency warned global carbon dioxide emissions were expected to rise at their second-fastest pace ever this year.
Now it's released a landmark report listing ambitious steps that are needed to cut down carbon dioxide emissions to zero in 30 years.
Among them is a ban on new developments in new coal, gas and oil projects.
The energy sector is responsible for about 75% of the emissions that are driving up global temperatures.
And the agency says a drastic scaling-back of fossil fuels is needed if the world is to stay within safe limits of global warming.
That includes no new gas boilers or petrol and diesel cars, to list just a few of the everyday conveniences that will be affected.
The IEA called on governments to 'act now' if they want to avert the most catastrophic effects of climate change.
So what are the challenges ahead?
    Presenter: Mohammed Jamjoom
    Guests:
Mads Flarup Christensen, Executive Director of Greenpeace Nordic.
Cornelia Meyer, Economist and Oil and Gas Specialist.

Agencies say existing aid will only last for a few days and they are appealing for help.
But reaching people in need has been a struggle for those on the ground.
One Israeli air raid hit the Qatar Red Crescent Society office in Gaza.

Israel is being condemned for carrying out air strikes on a building that housed the offices of Al Jazeera and the Associated Press in Gaza.
People were only given an hour's warning to leave Al Jalaa tower.
