Are you looking for new ideas to find joy daily and craving a reset in this new season?
In this episode of The Integrative Mother Experience with Sarah Swift, I am a guest on the podcast Live A Vibrant Life. Host Kelly Tibbitts and I discuss ideas going into the new year in the winter season to create warmth, maintain a healthy lifestyle and creating spaces you crave being in. This episode is for you if you need ideas to reset during the winter months.
I previously loved the short WI summer season as my favorite, but I had a shift a couple years ago. I also just turned 51 and as a Capricorn, this season really resonates with me. I enjoy the reset after the holidays, the grounding feeling and my ability to be a vessel that is able to hold after slowing down. It helps me in creating discipline in the new year. My intentions to notice things that are joyful continue daily, regardless of the season.
My morning routine for the last few years is waking up most often very early, without an alarm clock. A dark and calm start to my day. Previous to the last five years, before my nervous system was regulated, I worked most days well into the evenings as a hairstylist. I had been doing it for over three decades and really enjoyed sleeping in. I would press the snooze for sure. Two years ago there was a big shift in that routine.
In this episode we discuss three things:
-First for warmth I have several types of winter coats to keep me warm, from my wool dress coat and cute scarf that I enjoy wearing to the salon over my dressy outfits, my iconic fuzzy casual blush coat, as my daughter's friend calls it and my extra warm winter coat that I wear when walking my dog Nora daily. We agree the warmth of a fireplace or pellet stove feels cozy and dim lighting to start the day. My morning ritual making warm coffee and warm soups or chili.
-Second for health we discuss both being gluten-free and all the new choices available. The benefits of resetting or grounding, muscle toning exercise and daily walks outside in nature with my dog Nora.
-Third for cleaning a space the importance of lighting and dimmers. Also the intention of a space and making it feel clutter free and special for the purpose it is intended for, including the view of the lake with the addition of a well placed mirror, a refresh to a beauty area and color coding in my office.
