Nick is joined again by Comrade Levi to discuss a really "radical" article from The Economist  in 1997.  This is part of our article series on Palestine, Zionism, and Empire, which we will run in parallel with our history series.

In this episode we mention Edward Said. Said was a Palestinian-American professor, author, and activist, who was active throughout his life in supporting the struggle of Palestinians and critiquing American foreign policy.  His book Orientalism  is an important work to analyze the relationship between the West and the East, and is well worth checking out.

Nick and Steve read and discuss the People's Agreement of Cochabamba, one of the most important documents on climate action and climate change that you may not have heard of before.  The fact that we don't hear these important words from indigenous people has everything to do with a global system of racism, colonialism and imperialism dominated by the US and its junior imperial partners.  We hear more about something like the Green New Deal because it doesn't dare do what the People's Agreement does: name Imperialism as the primary foe in the climate fight.
