In this episode on the New Deal congress, we consider the thin line between overt fascism and the governing “master-race ideology” of American liberalism with Anders Lee of Pod Damn America. Palestine and Israel are never far from our minds as we’ve watched a so-called “liberal Israeli state” expand their actions towards the mass ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. We all must now struggle with how we hold our movements responsible in determining when that line between liberalism and fascism is crossed and how we must react when people cross that line.

As promised, we finally deal with the Nakba.  Here we dispel the myths around this cataclysmic event  that the State of Israel, and even some of its critical historians, propagate.  The Nakba was an explicit, state-designed policy of murder, destruction, and displacement that cannot be extricated from the Palestinian resistance movement today. 

We additionally tackle  the myth of the "expulsion" of Arab Jews from their home countries by discussing the tragic forced migration of Yemenite Jews into Israel, driven by the Zionist state.  At the heart of this discussion is an analysis of how historical narratives are weaponized to mystify reality.  To build a better world, we must understand the realities of the oppressed and operate on that basis.  We cannot simply replace old myths with new.

This is a re-upload of our third set of entries (eps. 51 & 58) of the Palestine, Zionism, and Empire series into a combined episode.  In this episode we detail the geopolitics of the Levant from 1945 to 1957. Nick narrates the intersections and contradictions which developed during the U.N. Partition of Palestine; the first Arab-Israeli War; the years building up to the Suez Crisis; the Second Arab-Israeli War; and the unholy union of the U.S.A. and U.S.S.R. against the tripartite of Israel, France, and Great Britain. We conclude that by 1957, the pieces were all in place for the United States to assume its role as the unwavering imperial accomplice to Israel.

Though mentioned, Al-Nakba is discussed more substantially in a subsequent episode.

Steve narrates the intersection and struggle between the Zionist project, the Palestinian people, and the imperial interests of the Crown. Through a number of contingencies (including British racism, imperial preference, and European guilt post- World War II), the Zionists ended up better equipped and positioned than the Palestinians to execute their own imperial domination of the land.
