Last season, I talked about losing friends and finding new ones. Sadly, as we grow older, that starts to happen. We lose friends, and at some point, we will need to start making new ones because we can’t just have one. We grow apart, go off to school, move away, change jobs, or simply change priorities enough that it causes us to drift away from each other.

I’m one of those people who loves watching HGTV, shows like Property Brothers, Fixer Upper, and the lottery dream home things. It is fun to see people who are able to DIY their dream home and have to be frugal about it, or even those who are able to find their dream home without renovating it at all. It’s part of the strange American dream of having a home. For me personally, it’s all about having your own space.

 People find it funny whenever I talk about all of the ways I have avoided people. Avoiding People 101 is part serious, part funny. The truth is, everyone has their own ways and reasons for avoiding people, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Sometimes you just don’t want to talk to somebody, or you can’t stand being around toxic or negative people. This advice is not just for introverts because it can be awkward around certain people, no matter who you are.

I had the pleasure of having Rebecca Weber on the podcast. She is a journalist and writing coach, most of which she does remotely. She also has her own podcast called The Writing Coach Podcast. I like talking to other people about different types of careers since I mainly talk about small businesses and side hustles. We get to see how they handle other types of jobs and how they do so as an introvert. I always find that interesting!

I have talked a lot about upgrading your life and adding adventure. Some of you guys wanted to have smaller steps to get you started. The first step is starting simple, especially when you are younger and just starting out. One small thing that I have done is that if something will take me a minute or less to do, I just do it right away. If I need to do a lot of chores, I will start with laundry because it takes less than a minute to start. Then, I will arrange the dishes. I don’t need to do everything at once. When you do things that take a minute or less, they all add up.

Growing older means growing as a person. I don’t know if this topic came to mind because of New Year’s, or my birthday, or for other reasons, but most of us want to be better people. We try to do that as every year goes by or when we try new things. It also comes from constructive criticism in our lives. For example, when someone tells us we were insensitive or rude, we want to know so that we can change and grow. No one is ever completely done learning in life and we don’t purposely rub people the wrong way.
