It was one of US President Barack Obama’s key foreign policy achievements back in 2015. The Iran nuclear deal, though far from perfect, prevented Iran from advancing its own nuclear program. President Trump withdrew from the deal in 2018, claiming it failed to curtail Iran’s missile program and regional influence. A year later, Iran began ignoring limitations on its nuclear program.
