Technology is helping more and more to run these microcosms, to give us more services, more entertainment, and to make our travels times faster, smoother, and secure.

Technology needs data to do all of this, and as with many - I dare say all things -in life, it all comes with a trade-off.

While some people may look at their mobile phone and think that it is more than just a phone … that it actually has a persona. Some may even give it a name. Or, naturally, they use the name given to the personal assistant that resides “in” the phone as they call for it … “Hey!”

People are funny, aren't they? Weird things happen in our collective brains. Humans have the tendency to overuse their selective memory, forgetting the bad stuff and idealizing the good; we even create our own fake news in our brain without even realizing it. Humans! So smart, and yet so dumb. Humanity — our damnation and our salvation.

So, what is this podcast about? Ah, glad you asked.

Wait, before you pick one, let me tell you a secret: these statements are both wrong and right. Yes, at practical levels we can make a case for both, and neither one is going to prevail over the other; but from a philosophical and anthropological perspective, I feel quite confident in supporting the statement that technology is intrinsically good. Human nature is defined and driven by intellectual exploration and growth, and ultimately technology is just part of being human — which is the most contemporary, yet probably not the ultimate, expression of our evolution as a species.
