Leadership is a rollercoster. So so many highs and extreme lows plus infinite memories and lots of fun in between. Marvin and I had so much fun recording this, mostly because we were reminiscing on so many memories, and it was also cathartic and reflective for both of us 🥰. The University of Nairobi Parklands Campus in association with UNESCO marked the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence in November and December of 2021. The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. For this episode, I host Valentine and Annete from the University of Nairobi Parklands Campus to discuss the campaign that took place, their experiences with sexual harassment and other forms of Gender Based Violence, as well as the future of activism in this area. Hello Guys!!!!!!!!! I know it's not June but Pride is all year baby!!!!!!!!! So glad I finally get to do this episode because I was so so excited for Pride Month this year, after how profound Black History Month and Women's History Month were to me. We talk about how this year was a lot less about unlearning previous beliefs, unlike Pride 2020. This year was about living our beliefs by walking the talk, not just calling ourselves "allies." It was about evaluating our laws through the oppressive colonial regimes that enacted them. It was about acknowledging that transphobia and biphobia continue to perpetuate oppression. Realising that many famous "feminists" remain violently transphobic and therefore anti-feminist. Seeing how corporates continue to capitalise on Pride Month without truly supporting LGBTQIA+ rights. And remembering that queer communities still suffer disproportionately in the face of crises such as COVID-19. We have such a long way to go. But for now we can revel in the pure joy of being truly ourselves, unfettered and uninhibited!!!! Happy Pride loves!!!

I still can't believe I got another Respiratory Tract Infection after the one in March like daaaammmnnnnn. I remember thinking; Janet, you really need to take care of your body a lot more!!!!! Thankfully my throat doesn't hurt anymore, I can swallow, and most importantly, I can record this episode without my throat aching for hours like it did when I got sick😂😂😂. I discuss paracetamol vs Ibuprofen, antibiotics, stronger antibiotics, my newfound love for smoothies, and how being sick really gave me presence of mind. What I learned from the experience is that I have been doing this gap year with one foot in and one foot out, so I am EXTENDING ITTTTTTTT. #noKSL 😂😂😂😂. I also realised that I really value my friendships and I will fully immerse myself in them henceforth. Thankful for those reflections❤❤❤. Plus the life decisions I made ❤❤❤.
