Jason Jones and Stephen Herreid discuss escalating threats to Palestinian Christian communities in the West Bank, the work of the Vulnerable People Project, and the difficult politics of public advocacy. They also reflect on solidarity, media attention, and how to discuss Israel, religion, migration, and prejudice without assigning collective blame Then they are joined by activist Alice Kisiya, a Christian reporting living in and from Bayt Jala who is actively fighting the takeover  of her farmland  in the West Bank. Kisiya describes checkpoint closures, settler threats to Christian lands, the distruction of her families trees, the disappearance of her family dog and the personal toll on her family the IDF forces and settlers are bringing on her family, and countless other Christians in the Holy Land. She also shares her hopes for political change and urges Christians abroad to protect Holy Land communities and to not fall victim to the propaganda being shared in America. 

Jason Jones and Stephen Herreid review some clips and stances by Rod Dreher, Bezalel Smotrich and others who spoke at the conference. During the review the touch on some key topics including ideological shifts in conservatism, political alliances among the conservative elite, and moral questions surrounding the direction “conservatism”, Israel, immigration policies are heading in the United States and world. The two also discuss the shifting lines and subsequent MAGA takeover of the Conservatism Conference and its drastic shift into ethno-nationalism and away from the values of Christ.

The two also recount Khalil’s experience at the beatification of Fulton Sheen.

In this episode of The Jason Jones Show, Jason sits down with Zainab Baqiri to discuss the Vulnerable People Project’s work in Afghanistan and the women and girls still fighting for a future beyond Taliban rule.

Recorded on August 26, 2026, the fifth anniversary of the Abbey Gate bombing in Kabul, Jason and Zainab reflect on the chaos surrounding the fall of Afghanistan, the evacuation efforts they were involved in, and the attack that killed 13 American service members and approximately 170 Afghans. They share their personal experiences from that period and discuss the importance of remembering the Afghan allies who were left behind and the promises made to them.

Jason and Zainab also discuss Flight2Future, a VPP program helping talented young Afghan women who have earned scholarships and university admissions reach countries where they can safely continue their education. The program helps cover travel and relocation costs, including the additional expense created by Taliban restrictions that often require a male family member to accompany a woman traveling outside the country.

Zainab shares her own journey as a refugee now living in Germany, where she was able to pursue her master’s degree with the support of a Catholic scholarship program. She reflects on how access to education, community, and opportunity helped her begin rebuilding her life.
