Now it's time for Chapter 4 of 1997's "Child Bride" by Suzanne Finstad called "Fantasies of Elvis."
Priscilla Beaulieu Presley's narrative has ALWAYS been that she wasn't really an Elvis fan when she first met him. Sure, she admitted in a few interviews over the years that she "liked" him, ('who didn't?" she would later say) but she maintains that she definitely was NOT crazy about him like so many other girls her age in 1956.
This chapter takes direct aim at this claim, through interviews with Priscilla's child hood friends. We find out that according to them, at the time when Elvis exploded onto the scene, Priscilla WAS fascinated and completely enamored with Elvis - continually playing his records, and often relaying "make believe" fantasies to her close girlfriend about her desire to meet and eventually marry him.
