Today’s guest is my dearest friend Jai Ramakrishnan. An avid magic maker of phenomenal Indian cuisine, a survivor through challenging marital times of alcoholism and early onset dementia, and a bright and brilliant career woman, mother and rich part of every community she touches. She tells her story of growing up in India and eventually moving to the states to weave us through what she likes to call “her Victorian novel” of her life. Hearing her story is a reminder that coming from different upbringings, ages and cultures, we still see ourselves in each other and we are all powerful survivors. I speak with Zo Erickson today who courageously and candidly shares their story into their trans masculine journey. We talk about the trajectory of thoughts, feelings and people that helped them arrive to this newfound identity, and Zo helps shed light on questions some of you might have. We also talk about their polyamorous relationship pivot and their reflections on this choice. An absolutely badass episode. Zo is totally charming, kind and encourages us to have a little grace, which we all could practice more of.

So many of you asked for my story, so here it is! A brief history of Jillian, including some of my trauma, my take on it, and how I became a healer and yoga teacher. Although I rarely get to share my story, I wanted to honor your curiosity. I also know it’s so important for me to share some of my darkness because I celebrate it and it’s made me who I am. We then discuss her experience volunteering at Prison Yoga Chicago and what you may or may not know about the internal prison experience. My guest today is Lexxi Keilly. A psychotherapist, activist, and all around amazing human. She talks to us today about systems in therapy, current patterns we all are going through collectively, her conservative religious upbringing and how she transformed into a spiritually curious person (much through pole dance!), and the necessary support of community.

We chat about sexuality, activism, and feeling sparkly. One of my favorite things Lexxi mentions through her systems approach to therapy is that you’re not alone, and it’s not your fault. This is a conversation that will help all of us feel seen, a little more understood, and a little braver to reach out and create those connections we’re so readily craving.
