Episode #100 - Vicki Jay O’Grady Longo

Vicki J. O’Grady Longo is a Cytogeneticist and holds an MA in Executive Leadership. She is happily married to John for 30+ years and is mom to ‘their’ Kelsea. She has spent 30+ years in the pharmaceutical industry remembering, connecting, and celebrating life with others. Vicki loves learning! She enjoys taking pictures, storytelling, memory keeping, scrapbooking, quilting, calligraphy, and reading historical fiction. When not in her gardens, at a beach, or on a mountaintop, you’ll find her chasing dragonflies and seeking awe whilst exercising her ‘wanderlust’ to places and countries unknown. Vicki loves people and believes love is powerful. She loves being with others and spreading joy. She loves hearing others’ stories. She is not one to snorkel with people. She scuba-dives, for she enjoys hearing that others go forward with happiness and joy afterward. This inspires her.

Episode #99- Kingdom Mindset

Know your mission. If you don't know your mission and work with somebody, work with me, work with anyone that you feel confident with.

who will help you uncover the treasure that you have inside of you. And that's all I ask of each one of you who's listening to this.

Are you using your gifts?

Do you have the mindset of the kingdom mindset? Do you have the speaking out loud of, I get to do this. I'm blessed to do this. I'm grateful I get to do this. Or is it the other side of the coin? I wanna be comfortable. I wanna have fear in my life. I wanna control things I can't control. I wanna complain and defend and blame.

Am I really living the best life possible right now?

And if not, what's the one thing I could do to be better?

serve to use my talents and my gifts, but to love someone better, to listen better.

that's the kingdom mindset. And we all have it within us. And like I said earlier, it's hard to get to because we have a belief system that we don't deserve this. And I'm not talking about money again. I'm talking about how you view things. God wants to bless you. That's the truth. Okay? God wants to give you many things in your life.

as long as you're on a mission and it's aligned with his will. And that's something you have to figure out. And the younger you can figure that out, the more that you can, again, compound those gifts that you have and spread the wealth of just service and love and wisdom to others in your life.

and to be a great leader, that's what you have to do, is to serve and be a servant leader.

You do not have pride, you have humility. You serve with your heart and love for others. That's a true leader.

See, we all have things in our lives that we're not good at or that we struggle with, but that doesn't define who we are. Our identity, again, is our belief system of who we serve and how we serve.

I pray that you find your purpose and you rely on one. I pray that you have peace. And I pray that you're saved from this life on Earth as we're just camping. It's a vapor here. But where we spend eternity is where it matters. And remember, heaven is just being with God for eternity. And hell.

is not being with him in love, in peace, for eternity. So start choosing today to have a kingdom mindset. Start choosing today to have a grateful heart. Start choosing today to live out your mission and to serve others with love. I love you, God bless you, and continue this beautiful journey of life.

What is the one thing that we long for?

The world would tell you that it’s money, fame, big houses, fancy cars, and a huge following on social media.  People think that if they had all these things they would be happy and fulfilled, but how wrong they are.

There have been many accounts of famous people who had all these things just mentioned above, and were suffering, depressed, and suicidal.  So what would bring us peace and joy?

It’s simple; it can be found in the New Testament.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things, there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 NIV

I’m going to focus on one of these great fruits of the spirits, which is peace.

From the Imitations of Christ:

All men desire peace but all do not care for the things that go to make true peace. My peace is with the humble and meek of heart: your peace will be in much patience. If you hear me and follow my voice, you can enjoy much peace. Watch yourself in all things, and what you do and what you say. Direct your every intention toward pleasing me alone, and desire nothing outside of me. Do not be rash in judging the deeds and words of others, and do not entangle yourself in Affairs that are not your own. 

 Do you not think that all is perfect if everything happens just as you wish? And do not imagine yourself great or consider yourself especially beloved if you are filled with great devotion and sweetness. for the true lover of virtue is not known by these things, nor do the progress and Perfection of a man consistent with them.

They consist in your offering yourself with all your heart to the Divine will, not seeking what is yours either in small matters or great ones, either in temporal or eternal things, so that you will preserve equanimity and give thanks in both prosperity and adversity, seeing all things in their proper light. but acknowledge me to be just in all my works and praise my holy name. then you will walk in the true and right path of peace, then you may have hope of seeing my face again. If you attain complete contempt of self, then know that you will enjoy an abundance of peace, as much as is possible in the Earthly life.

Equanimity- mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper, especially in a difficult situation.

One of the best ways to peace is to have equanimity.  A way to be composed is by telling yourself that the situation you are in will not last forever.  The storm you are going through will pass.  

The beauty and power of the Lord's death and resurrection is our forgiveness which leads to peace.  

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardship as a pathway to peace; taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to Your will; so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen.

Javier Mesa

Javier is from Madisonville, Louisiana.  He grew up in New York City and lived there until 12 years old.  When he was young, he was molested by his uncle, who was a priest.   He then moved to Columbia and spent four years there.  He moved to Louisiana when he was 16 and was middle child with no guidance.  He quit high school and was living for his flesh.  He joined the army but was not living a fulfilled and joyful life.  He met his wife when he was 34 and has been happily married to her and their beautiful children, Ava and Sam.  

Currently, Javier is the Director at 4LP- A commercial lightning protection company.  He is living his best life now as he surrendered his life to Christ.  God has opened the doors for him in his life and he truly has real peace and joy.  Javier has also connected with men’s groups and is very active in the School of Grit.  Lastly, he is living an authentic life that is God-inspired and is giving back to the kingdom by helping men with similar struggles that he went through before he had his breakthrough.
