In this episode, I will share the secret that is allowing me to live my best life. The truth is that it stems from the book, "The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life (Before 8AM)" by Hal Elrod.
It sounds simple and it is. The basic principle is that you wake up earlier than usual and implement the SAVERS method to start an early and productive day, explained on the podcast.
The crazy thing is that I have read hundreds of books and tried implementing different techniques but this is the only one that has actually gotten me to wake up consistently now at 4AM. I am not saying you have to do that, neither does he, but once you see the benefits of waking up early and implementing the strategy you'll be blown away at how much you can accomplish in a day.
I used to tell everyone and convince myself of the following:
1) I'm not an early bird. My body is built differently and I need 8-10 hours of sleep.
2) I'm more productive at night and it doesn't make sense to wake up early, or go to bed early. If I don't' have enough sleep I'll feel terrible for the rest of the day.
3) I hate working out early because my body doesn't warm up enough until late afternoon, or evening.
4) I don't ever have time for breakfast and I don't like to cook in the mornings.
5) The list of other things I convinced myself I couldn't do went on and on.
After implementing the steps in the Miracle Morning I am now doing the following:
1) Waking up at 4AM
2) Going to bed earlier at 9:30PM-10PM
2) Home Gym from 5AM-6:15AM
3) Making breakfast for myself and my family
4) And the list goes on of other things that I am now doing, or am on the path to learn and become
By implementing the simple steps I have now have increased the standards of my life that are in line with the better version of myself that I always wanted to be. It's still a work in process but the roadmap is there and I am following it daily.
I hope that if you're serious about making meaningful changes in your life that you read the book. What I love most is that the steps aren't complicated, it's simple. Also, it's not set in stone and you can modify your miracle morning different from someone else's.
One last thing to point out is that for the first two weeks you will learn a lot about your body. You have to tweak your system until you get it down right. I did relapse a few times and woke up at 7AM because I was too tired. For example, I spent the first two weeks testing out how early I could actually wake up. Then I tested different times I would go to bed. I also timed how long it took to cook breakfast, read my affirmations and do my journaling. It took about 3 weeks to get it down right. You do small tweaks until you get your system down right.
Good luck!
