Chapter 2:

-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is en route home after spending most of the week in China, a week that was focused mostly on boosting trade and investment ties. Our chief political correspondent David Akin has been travelling with the Prime Minister and reports that he is returning home with few deliverables.

Chapter 3:

-Seattle’s Mayor has signed an agreement to have a private company rebuild a new arena on the lands where the key arena sits.  This means a rival hockey team for the Canucks could be in the cards.

Chapter 4:

-The City of Vancouver has approved rezoning of a False Creek property for a rental project, but the cost per unit is anything but affordable.

Chapter 5:

-It was a tense day at the legislature yesterday as Horgan met all day with his cabinet and advisers as the Site C decision looms.

Chapter 6:

-At the age of 6, a child is ready for their first step into the world of Facebook…right?  Well Facebook has developed a messenger for kids that has parental controls but is this just a way to get kids hooked on Facebook early?

Chapter 7:

-Attorney General David Eby announced new measures to help curb money laundering in Lower Mainland casinos. Will it be enough?

Chapter 8:

-The BC Court of Appeal ruling revolved around a 2006 decision to replace life-long disability pensions with one lump sum payment, which veterans said amounted to a 40 per cent cut in benefits for some wounded soldiers. The three-judge panel dismissed the case saying Parliament always has the ability to amend federal laws and Ottawa has clear constitutional authority to legislate in this area.

Chapter 9:

-What has traditionally been a safe Conservative seat was much closer than usual in the last federal election, with the Liberal candidate losing by only 1500 votes. Conservative candidate Diane Watts prevailed in 2015, but stepped down to run for the leadership of the Provincial Liberals.

Chapter 10:

-As wonderful as it is to give to others if you do not give health to yourself first you will not have the ability to give a lot to others.  There are so many levels to having optimum health and fitness and unless we breakdown your specific goals and make a plan we run the risk of simply not taking the right steps to achieve them.

Chapter 11:

-President Donald Trump recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which is possibly a problem when it comes to peace talks for the Middle East.  What is the end goal for the President?  Or was this a big error in judgement?

A sad day in the newsroom as long time traffic reporter Neil O’Brien passed away yesterday at the age of 47.  He was known for his hilarious and unique way of broadcasting the traffic in Vancouver.

The new chief civilian director for the Independent Investigations Office of BC, which probes all cases where police in BC are involved in a death or serious injury, says his first order of business has been to make his office more transparent.

BC is spelling out some of the ground rules for what the world will look like once marijuana is legal, next summer. This follows a lengthy consultation process.

Attorney General David Eby says tighter regulations are coming to BC casinos to clamp down on money launderers after a review confirmed money is being funneled from unknown sources.

Russia has been suspended from the 2018 Winter Games due to “the systemic manipulation of the anti-doping system in Russia” (Thomas Bach, IOC president).  Russian athletes will be able to compete, but under the banner of an Olympic Athlete and not their country.
