Residents on South Pender Island are rallying behind the local beaver population after Parks Canada announced plans to euthanize the animals. The beavers have built dams that are threatening a human-made dam in a section of the Gulf Island National Park Reserve.

Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore denies the newest claim of sexual misconduct against him. But reports from his home town say it was no secret that Moore pursued teenaged girls when he was in his 30s. CBS' Manuel Bojorquez reports on the story.

The death toll from illicit drug overdoses reached 1,103 for the first nine months of this year, the coroners' service said. In 2016, 982 people fatally overdosed in British Columbia. The opioid fentanyl was detected in about 83 per cent of the deaths, representing a 147 per cent increase over the same period last year.
