Six candidates vying for the BC Liberal Party leadership battled it out on a stage for the first time this Sunday.  All candidates, except Terrace business woman Lucy Sager, were present at the Surrey debate.  Candidates took jabs at each other, keeping their eyes on the prize.

There is a new councillor at city hall.  Hector Bremner is Vancouver’s newest councillor, filling the spot left vacant by former Vision Vancouver Councilor Geoff Meggs.  Bremner served as an executive assistant for former ministers Teresa Wat and Rich Coleman. He also ran unsuccessfully as a BC Liberal candidate for New Westminster back in 2013.

Former finance minister Mike de Jong was quick to defend his former role, adding his ministry was to thank for B.C.’s strong economic standing.  Meanwhile, former advanced education minister Andrew Wilkinson focused on affordability, saying it’s one of the main issues for voters across B.C.  The Vancouver Sun's Vaughn Palmer is here with his take on the day's headlines.

Iceland has brought online the first negative emission power plant which pulls CO2 from the air.  Tim Dickert has the tech report.
