A group of physicians and local gay men’s health organizations are calling on B.C.’s Premier and Health Minister to approve an HIV prevention drug for gay men to be funded by PharmaCare.

In the wake of a racist rally that turned deadly in Charlottesville, Va. the City of Vancouver is set to hold its own pair of duelling demonstrations between far right groups and counter-protesters.

A Saturday event dubbed the “WCAI Canada/CAP rally” has been posted to Facebook by right wing media group “ProperGander Promotions,” and lists speakers from several anti-immigrant groups.

Canadian airlines will now decide for themselves whether they want to revert to safety regulations changed after the fatal Germanwings crash that killed over 100 people.  The temporary order, which expired in June, required that two crew members be in the cockpit at all times during a flight. If a pilot or co-pilot went on a break, a flight attendant would replace them.

The new B.C. government has followed through on their 2016 campaign promise of banning the contentious practice of grizzly bear trophy hunting.  Along with ending grizzly bear trophy hunting, the B.C. NDP announced they would also stop all hunting of grizzlies in the Great Bear Rainforest. Hunting grizzlies for sport was banned in the Great Bear Rainforest by the Coastal First Nations four years ago.
