Demonstrations are heating up on Parliament Hill leading up to Canada’s 150th anniversary. Protestors tried to erect a teepee on the government lawn but their efforts were prohibited by police. According to the CBC, nine people were detained and later released

Christy Clark says she won't ask the lieutentant-governor to call another election when her government is voted down in the legislature today. But she WILL tell the L-G that the NDP-Green alliance can't govern.  The Province newspaper's Michael Smyth is here with his take on the day's headlines.

As for the conversation between Premier Christy Clark and the Lieutenant Governor, we will likely never know exactly what is said.  But if an election is called, it'll be Christy Clark calling for it says constitutional experts.
