Republicans in the House passed a bill Thursday that would dismantle much of the Affordable Care Act. With no Democratic support, Republicans voted "yes" and acquired just one vote over the number required for passage. It now goes to the Senate, where Democrats vow to stop it.

The NDP's John Horgan will make an announcement in Nanaimo, with stops in Parksville and Courtenay.  The Greens' Andrew Weaver is at a campaign event in Duncan in the morning, spends his afternoon in Sechelt, and wraps up the day in Powell River.  Liberal leader Christy Clark campaigns in Richmond this morning, and has other stops in Campbell River, Terrace, Smithers and Prince George.

It's a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to Canada's unemployment numbers.
The rate in April fell two points to 6.5 per cent last month.   The last time the level was that low was in October of 2008.  However, Stats Canada note the decline is because of a drop in the number of young canadians looking for employment.
Wage growth also hitting its weakest level since data collection began in 1997.
Hourly wages expanded by just 0.7 per cent in April over the past year.

May 3 marks the one-year anniversary of the gigantic wildfire that devastated the Alberta town of Fort McMurray, a story that dominated headlines last summer.  While most left the city entirely to avoid the fire, many reporters stayed in the line of danger to get that story out.
