The "foreign buyer" and the BC government's infamous tax dominated headlines this year and will continue to in the new year. The foreign investor has been named The Canadian Press business newsmaker of the year. It's the first time since the survey began in 2003 that the title hasn't gone to a specific person. The foreign investor captured 37% of the vote in an annual poll of the country's newsrooms by The Canadian Press.

Anis Amri, the main suspect in Monday's Christmas market attack in Berlin, was killed overnight. Italy's interior minister says Amri died in a shootout with police in Milan. He was the target of an international manhunt after a tractor-trailer rammed into the market, killing 12 people. Charlie D'Agata reports from Berlin.

Transit police have ordered a batch of new tasers with plans to equip half the force in the new year.

Forty new tasers are on the way in a move to give officers more non-lethal options on the job.

Spokesperson Anne Drennan says new Cheif Doug LePard spearheaded the effort with one goal in mind.
