The RCMP is expected to announce a compensation package for hundreds of past and present female members who have complained of sexual harassment and discrimination within the force.

The federal government has announced compensation for hundreds of current and former female RCMP members over claims of harassment and discrimination.

Details of the apparently systemic problem didn’t come out until former high profile RCMP spokesperson Catherine Galliford came forward with sexual harassment allegations. The move prompted more women to share their stories, eventually culminating in the class-action suit. Galliford settled her sexual harassment civil suit against the force in May.
