They made some startling discoveries, including evidence $5 billion worth of dirty money has been laundered through real estate in Vancouver by organized crime over a five year period. But from a legal perspective, how easy is it to prosecute these gangs who appear to be untouchable? Financial Crime Lawyer Christine Duhaime walks us through why it’s difficult to prosecute these criminals.Nationally, the rate was down for the second consecutive year, sitting at 2.4%, from 3% in 2017. In BC, the vacancy rate remained low at 1.4%. That’s a slight increase from last year (1.3%). Is this evidence of a possible market softening?
