When you experience back pain, or any persistent discomfort, it’s easy to see it as an enemy. Something to be silenced, masked, or eliminated as quickly as possible. But what if I told you that your pain isn't the problem? What if, instead, it's a form of communication? A message from your system that is desperately trying to get your attention.
Pain Is Not The Enemy We’ve been conditioned to think that all pain is bad. We reach for the painkillers, the distractions, or the quick fixes to make it stop. But pain serves a purpose. In fact, it has three very specific jobs. When you understand these jobs, you stop fighting your pain and start listening to it. That shift alone changes everything.
The Three Purposes of Pain Let’s look at what your pain might actually be trying to do for you:
Beyond the Physical Now, when we talk about the back, we have to acknowledge that we are not just a collection of bones and muscles. You are an energetic being. So when we ask, "What is structurally wrong with your back?", we also have to be open to the question, "What is happening energetically?"
A client once shared with me that her back pain felt connected to her sacral chakra and a deep, old wound from childhood. For her, the pain wasn't just a physical issue to be fixed. It was a unifying force, trying to bring a traumatic experience into her conscious awareness so it could finally be released. The pain was the messenger of a much deeper story that needed to be heard.
Quotes & Gems:
Client Testimonial
Before: I had been struggling with persistent back pain that I couldn't explain or fix. I thought it was purely a structural issue, something wrong with my body that needed to be adjusted. It was frustrating and constant.
What I Learned / Applied: In this session, Joshua helped me see my pain differently. He explained that pain has three purposes: it protects, corrects, and unifies. This opened the door for me to look deeper. I realized my pain wasn't just physical; it was energetically connected to my sacral chakra and a traumatic experience from my childhood. The pain was my system trying to get my attention.
Results: Just by being given the space and the framework to make this connection, something shifted. I didn't need to "fix" my back; I needed to listen to what it was telling me about a part of myself that needed healing.
How committed are you? Not committed enough? Listen well and then get to work!!!
I remember a moment years ago, sitting in a seminar. The woman next to me was fidgeting, shifting in her seat, unable to get comfortable. As the day went on, I saw her face contort. She looked like she was in agony. She wanted to be there, she wanted to learn, but something was physically stopping her.
I leaned over and asked, "What's wrong?" She told me she had just gotten breast implants and was in a lot of pain. I immediately thought of a technique I had learned from a video. It was a way of working with the mind’s perception of pain. It seemed too simple to be real, but I had to ask. "Do you want to get rid of the pain?" She said "yes".
The Point-and-Click Technique I guided her through a simple process I call "point-and-click" therapy. I asked her to point to where the pain was. Then, I asked for the first color that came to mind. "Now," I said, "pull that color out of your body." She mimed the action.
I continued, "Notice that color is spinning. Which direction is it moving? Forward? Backwards?" She told me. "Now, double the speed. Double the amplitude. Double the force." She followed along, her eyes closed, concentrating.
Finally, I said, "Now, put the energy back in. Notice what happens in your body."
She opened her eyes, stunned. The pain was gone. Completely. It had vanished.
More Than a Party Trick This wasn't a one-off miracle. I started using this with everyone I could. People with chronic headaches, old knee injuries, back pain that had plagued them for years. Again and again, the pain would dissolve. It wasn't about the physical injury itself, but about the pattern the nervous system had locked onto.
This showed me something fundamental. A lot of physical pain is just the tip of the iceberg. Beneath it, there’s almost always an underlying emotion—a trapped feeling, a past shock, a belief that we’re not safe. If you can solve for the emotion, if you can reprogram the nervous system's response, the physical pain often has no reason to stay.
The KFC and the Nervous System Think about how this works. I once met a man who could not eat KFC. He told me a story: years ago, he saw someone bite into a piece of chicken, only to find a strange, white, gooey substance inside. He wasn't even the one eating it, but witnessing that moment created a powerful imprint.
From that day on, he never touched KFC again. But it went deeper. Just thinking about KFC would make his stomach churn. He would feel nauseous, on the verge of throwing up. This is the nervous system at work. It had associated the thought of KFC with the primal feeling of disgust and danger, creating a full-body response.
This is a mild version of what we call Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). PTSD isn't just a memory; it's a nervous system hijacking. You’ve witnessed or experienced something, and it has wired itself into your system. Later, a trigger—a sound, a smell, a thought—can send you right back into that state of fear, helplessness, or pain. It affects your sleep, your relationships, and your ability to feel safe.
Your Relationship with Everything If your nervous system is out of control, it doesn't just affect trauma. It affects everything. It affects the way you think about money. It can create a feeling of scarcity or fear around abundance. It can affect your ability to connect with others. It can keep you stuck in patterns of behavior that you know aren't good for you.
True empowerment, true happiness and fulfillment, isn't just about positive thinking. It's about going deeper. It’s about upgrading the operating system itself. It’s about nervous system reprogramming. When you calm the system, when you release those old trapped patterns, you create space for a new way of being. You can finally be, do, and have the things you once believed were impossible.
The Rule of Three
Think about this for a moment. You can survive:
Of all the things your body needs to survive, breath is the most urgent. It's not optional. It's not a nice-to-have. You must breathe to live. And yet, most people are shallow breathers. Chest breathers. They're not getting nearly enough oxygen into their system, and their bodies are suffering because of it.
What Your Cells Really Need
Your cells need four things to survive and thrive:
When you breathe deeply, when you engage in diaphragmatic breathing, you're not just filling your lungs. You're sending oxygen into your bloodstream, which transports it to every cell in your body. And here's something remarkable: through breathwork alone, you can actually change your cells from acidic to alkaline.
The Acid-Alkaline Balance
Dr. Otto Warburg won a Nobel Prize for his discovery that no disease, including cancer, can live in an alkaline environment. Think about that for a moment. Disease and cancer are, according to many experts, a buildup of toxins and acid in the body.
Your blood needs to stay at a precise pH of 7.36. Your body works with incredible precision to maintain that balance. But the foods you eat, the stress you carry, the way you breathe—all of it affects whether your internal environment is acidic or alkaline.
This discovery sent me on an alkaline cleansing journey years ago. And every time I've lived an alkaline diet, the weight just falls off. Not because I'm starving myself, but because I'm creating an environment where my body can actually function the way it was designed to.
Living Food vs. Dead Food
Here's something to consider: What is living food?
Living food is something that grows on a tree, a bush, or in the ground. It's fresh. It's alive with nutrients. And yet, so much of what fills our supermarkets is anything but alive.
Large food producers often don't let the ground rest. They pump artificial fertilizers into the soil year after year. The essential nutrients that should be in the soil aren't there anymore. So we get beautiful-looking fruit and vegetables—show ponies, I call them—that look perfect but have no taste. No flavor. Because flavor comes from minerals, and the minerals aren't in the soil.
Then there's cold storage. They'll pick fruit and store it for weeks, months, even years. Then they thaw it out and sell it to you as "fresh." But it's not fresh. It's been frozen in time, and all the life has been drained out of it.
That's why I encourage people to grow their own food if they can. You know what's going into that soil. You know your food is alive. And with the price of fruit and vegetables these days, it's often cheaper anyway.
Session Overview: What This Lesson Was Really About This session was a deep dive into the core principles of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and how to use the mind to create real-world results. The central theme is that the quality of your life is determined by the quality of your emotions, and you have the power to consciously choose and install empowering emotional states. Using the story of a client who landed two jobs in one day, this lesson teaches the mechanics of state elicitation, mental rehearsal, and how to turn decades of practice into days of preparation.
Key Teaching Points
What if the weight you can't lose isn't about calories or willpower? What if your body is actually holding onto fat to save your life? The answer lies in a simple but profound concept: the acid-alkaline balance. Once you understand it, everything changes.

The Chemistry of Life: Why Balance Matters
We all have an acid-alkaline balance in our body. Think of it as a scale from 0 to 14. Zero is completely acid, and 14 is completely alkaline. Your blood needs to be at around 7.36—slightly more alkaline than acid. This is the optimal state for health.
When you eat food, some foods are acid-forming in the body, and some are alkaline-forming. If you're living a very acidic or toxic lifestyle because of the food you're eating, your body has to work overtime. It will deplete minerals from your bones and steal from other parts of your system just to keep that delicate balance.
If the balance isn't kept, you become sick. Dr. Otto Warburg won a Nobel Prize for his work on this, and his conclusion was powerful: no disease, including cancer, can live in an alkaline environment. All disease and sickness lives in an acid environment.
We all carry something. Bitterness, resentment, grief, or just the heavy weight of feeling stuck. For years, I thought I was free. I was functioning. But there was a prison I had built for myself, and I didn't even know the key was in my own hand. This is the story of what happens when the mind finally connects to the heart, and how a simple process can rewire everything.
The Prison We Don't See Before I found this work, I carried a lot. Anger, animosity, bitterness—the list goes on. It was all tied to my most recent divorce. I wanted to forgive him. I truly did. But wanting to forgive and actually forgiving are two different worlds. I was stuck in my mind. I knew the concept. I understood that forgiveness was the right thing to do. But it lived only in my head. It never reached my heart.
I felt trapped. I felt stuck. And the worst part was, I didn't know how to get out. I would ask myself, "How do I forgive? How do I make it real?" People would tell me it was simple. But simple doesn't mean easy when you don't know the steps.
The Moment the Wiring Changed Then I started attending these sessions. And something shifted. We learned to tap into the subconscious level, to envision and be walked through a process that took us to a certain place. It was during one of these guided experiences that something released within me.
It was like there had been a break in the wiring my whole life. The connection between what I knew in my mind and what I felt in my heart was severed. But this time, it wasn't just repaired. It was replaced. New wiring. I was finally able to forgive my ex-husband for everything. And the moment I said "I forgive you," and it reached my heart, everything changed.
The bitterness, the anger, the rage—it all went out the window. And what entered was compassion. Agape love. Acceptance. Forgiveness wasn't just a word anymore; it was a feeling flowing from inside my heart.
The Physical Reality of Emotional Freedom What surprised me most was the physical change. I could breathe better. I could think more clearly. Those negative emotions were no longer consuming my mind. For so long, I didn't realize how heavy they were. They were like weights I had been carrying every single day, and I had gotten so used to them that I forgot what lightness felt like.
Now I feel free. I feel light. I don't feel heavy anymore. It's like looking at a bird and realizing—they look so free because they are. They can go anywhere they want. That's how I feel now. Like I have wings.
The Leap of Faith When I first found this program, I was skeptical. My profession is a financial crimes investigator. I go after scammers for a living. So when Joshua started talking about money, every alarm in my head went off. I tested him. I asked for links to webinars, thinking if he ghosts me, I'll know he ran with my money.
But he didn't. He responded immediately. He sent links to a ton of webinars. He was interactive. And I realized that every penny was worth it.
Compared to what I had spent on counselors—one of whom charged me more in a year than this entire program costs, and I got nothing from her—this was not just economical. It was a steal. But more than the money, it was the result. I got something I had been searching for my entire life.
Who This Is For?
If you're on the fence, I was there too. What made me jump was knowing, somewhere deep inside, that the tools I needed were here. I had read books. I had watched videos. I had done everything under the sun. Nothing registered. But the interactive engagement, the group sessions, the way things were laid out step by step—it finally connected.
What if happiness wasn’t a mystery? What if it was actually a formula? I’ve sat with countless people, helping them set goals and map out their futures. We talk about better relationships, more money, career changes, and health goals. And when we dig deep enough, past the surface-level wants, we always arrive at the same destination: happiness. It’s what we’re all really after. So, let’s stop treating it like a lucky accident and start looking at the mechanics of it. Because there is a formula for happiness. And unfortunately, there are formulas for unhappiness and suffering, too.
The Blueprint and the Conditions
Here’s the simple, powerful formula: Happiness is when your life conditions match your blueprint.
Your blueprint is your internal map—your idea of how things should be. Your life conditions are your external reality—how things actually are. When those two things line up, you experience happiness. When they don’t, you experience unhappiness.
The Path to Suffering
So, we have unhappiness: life conditions not matching the blueprint. But how do we get from unhappiness to full-blown suffering? Suffering is what happens when your life conditions don’t match your blueprint, and you feel like there’s nothing you can do to change it.
I had a work colleague who was in a job he hated. He was assigned to a specific role in a specific place, and he was miserable. He felt trapped. He would say things like, “I have to do this. I don’t have a choice.” Because he believed he had no power to change his situation, he wasn’t just unhappy; he was suffering. He was angry at his bosses, angry at the company, angry at the work. He was stuck in a cycle of blame.
When we feel stuck, we usually do one of two things: we blame, or we ignore. We can blame events, other people, or ourselves. Notice what happens when you blame yourself—you beat yourself up. Your energy drops. Your capacity to actually solve the problem shrinks. This feeling of powerlessness is what turns unhappiness into suffering. Denial is the other trap. We ignore the problem, hoping it will go away. It might provide short-term relief, but it’s a terrible long-term strategy.
The Two Levers of Change
The good news is, you are never truly powerless. The foundation of an empowered life is this: you have the power to change anything in your life at any time. There are only two levers to pull. You can either:
That’s it. If you want to transform your life, you pull one or both of these levers.
Changing your perception is about working on your mindset. It’s about looking at the situation with fresh eyes. When something bad happens, our instinct is to look at it through the eyes of pain and loss, which only makes it worse.
Changing your procedure is about taking new action. If what you’re doing isn’t working, stop doing it. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. You need new input. You need a coach, a mentor, or a new course. You need to increase your knowledge and find new ways to approach the problem. By applying new ideas and taking new actions, you will get new results. You break the vicious cycle by doing something different.
