Whew! Now, yall may not get the vibe but I am an introverted person who does not always like to be in the hot seat but on this episode it was time for me to share my journey without him. 19th Annual Youth Speaks Grand Slam Performace

Youth Speaks creates safe spaces to empower the next generation of leaders, self-defined artists, and visionary activists through written and oral literacies. We challenge youth to find, develop, publicly present, and apply their voices as creators of social change.

This poem was written about my mother Michelle's love for the rain it once played an important role in her relationship with my father. Years later she still loves the rain.

Hey yall, hey! This week I wanted to answer a question I get asked a lot and in different ways...."What is a daddyless daughter?". Miyah is also featured in my book, Unspoken Words from a Daddyless Daughter. This EP was recorded in 2019, and since then, Miyah has grown tremendously and turned her pain into power. She is thriving in the career she has dreamed of and is now in a healthy, loving relationship. She is a true example of not allowing her fatherless circumstances to hold her back. In 2014 my heart was shattered from my biological father. I wrote this poem and performed it at the 18th Annual Grand Slam Finals at the Nourse Auditorium in San Francisco, CA.  The annual Youth Speaks slam (an Olympic-style poetry competition) features hundreds of young writers, emcees, and performers from throughout the Bay Area and Northern California, and attracts almost 10,000 audience members during its month-long run.
