There have been complaints about the way the Latino and African-American communities are policed.  Documentary evidence indicates Caucasian communities are not policed in the same aggressive manner.  Additionally, African-American police officers have complained they receive harsher disciplinary sanctions than Caucasian officers.  What impact if any, have African-American police officials made in changing the way communities of color are policed, and in stopping differential treatment of African-American police officers.

Nearly twelve years ago Michael McKenna, William McKenna and Ray Carnation (known as the Courageous Three) were police officers with the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Police Department.  After witnessing discrimination and corruption, their moral and ethical beliefs forced them to report these unlawful acts.  However, after reporting discrimination and corruption, all three officers were fired.  After a long and arduous legal battle, a Federal Jury ruled the Courageous Three were terminated from the Philadelphia Police Department solely because they had reported corruption and discrimination.  The Jury awarded the Courageous Three 10 million dollars.  Still, the Judge reduced the award to approximately 300 thousand dollars each.

The Judge’s ruling was unsuccessfully appealed to the Third Circuit Court.  Then the Courageous Three appealed to the United States Supreme Court.  Recently the Courageous Three learned the Supreme Court declined to hear their case.

Bogata New Jersey Police Officer Tasca intervenes to stop an alleged act of excessive force is now facing disciplinary charges for her actions.

Frequently officers that intervene or report the misconduct of other police officers are slapped with disciplinary charges.  While the officers involved in the acts of misconduct are not charged with any infraction and suffer no disciplinary sanctions.

In 1996, the Newark New Jersey Police Department unlawfully fired Darren Nance from his position as a police officer.  After a fourteen year legal battle a Federal Jury ruled in 2010 that Darren Nance was unlawfully terminated.  That ruling cost Newark taxpayers approximately ($3,000,000.00) three million dollars.

Now the Cory Booker administration of Newark is preparing to spend thousands of additional scarce financial resources to keep an honest and innocent police officer from returning to the Newark Police Department. 

On Thursday April 19, 2012 at 6:00 PM eastern time, we will discuss this unbelievable action by the Newark Police Department and the Cory Booker administration.  Why are they fighting the reinstatement of an innocent and honest police officer while retaining the services of police officer involved in a drunk driving fatality, and another who planted drugs on an innocent citizen?

There has been, and rightfully so, much publicity and public outrage about the shooting death of teenager Trayvon Martin.  An argument can be made that race was a major factor in the shooting.  Still, the accused shooter is being cloaked in the protective cover of the ‘Stand Your Ground Law.”   There has not been sufficient discussion of this controversial law and the Corporations involved in sponsoring it. 

On Thursday April 5, 2012, at 6:00 PM eastern time, the Justice For All Show will conduct an in-depth discussion of the Trayvon Martin shooting death, the Stand Your Ground Law, and its sponsorship by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and its corporate sponsors such as Exxon Mobil, AT&T, etc.

Reverend Nelson Johnson has complained to the Greensboro Municipal Council about false accusations concerning an internal investigation involving former Greensboro Police Officer Robert Reyes.  According to documents, an internal police investigation determined that Reverend Johnson provided confidential information to the local press. This investigatory conclusion was one of two major reasons to justify the termination of Robert Reyes. However, Reverend Johnson addressed the Greensboro Municipal Council and complained that he did not provide confidential information to the local press, and did not encourage anyone else to provide confidential information to the local press. Additionally, Reverend Johnson complained, no one conducting this internal investigation interviewed him about the allegations of providing confidential information to the local press.  It should be noted, that prior to his termination Robert Reyes had complained of discrimination in the Greensboro North Carolina Police Department.

On Thursday March 15, 2012, 6:00 PM eastern time, The Justice For All show will discuss this and other very important issues of discrimination in the Greensboro Police Department and some questionable, and perhaps unlawful, tactics of the Greensboro Police Department. We will invite Police Chief Ken Miller or his designee to join us in this much-needed discussion.

Recent published reports claim the Newark New Jersey Police Department has a new initiative in place that will prevent discriminatory differential treatment in the police disciplinary process. There have been numerous complaints that Latino and African-American Officers have received harsher sanctions than Caucasian Officers who have committed more egregious offenses. Since the 1960's African-American Officers have complained of differential treatment. But now, allegedly, there is some procedure or policy that will put an end to this differential treatment. There is just one small problem, no one in the entire Newark Police Department seems to know anything about this procedure or initiative that will prevent differential treatment.

On Thursday February 23, 2012 at 6:00 PM eastern time, we will discuss differential treatment in the Newark Police Department. Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio or his designee have been invited to participate in the discussion of differential treatment in the Newark Police Department.

In September 2010, the Philadelphia Police Department announced “New Anti-Corruption Initiatives.”  Police Commissioner Ramsey or his designee was invited to discuss the new initiatives on our September 30, 2010 show.  Commissioner Ramsey declined to participate, stating, they are in the process of “tweaking” the initiatives.

More than one year has past since the announcement of these new initiatives, and they should be thoroughly tweaked by now.  We have invited Philadelphia Police Commissioner Ramsey to discuss the features of these new anti-corruption initiatives on February 9, 2012 at 6:00 PM eastern time.  We want our listeners to fully understand how these new initiatives will prevent police corruption.

A suspect wanted in Greensboro North Carolina for shooting a man was arrested in New York and charged with the killing of a New York City Police Officer.  Greensboro North Carolina Police Department issued a felony warrant for the suspect Lamont Pride.  However, the suspect was arrested twice by the New York City Police Department.  According to a Daily News article, the Greensboro warrant specified extradite within the State of North Carolina only.  That same article reported that New York pressed them to change the warrant but they refused.

Why was Greensboro apparently reluctant to pick up a person wanted for a shooting in their city?  Was the Greensboro Police Department busy trying to cover up complaints of discrimination filed by Greensboro Police Officers?  Did this reluctance contribute to the death of a New York City Police Officer?

According to a recent special television report by New Jersey News 12 anchor Bryan Jenkins, the Newark Police Department released a written statement that a review showed that Latino and African American officers were disciplined more frequently than Caucasian officers.  However, research has shown that African American officers have been making this same complaint since the 1960’s.  Why have Newark Police Officials, despite numerous written complaints, been unable to determine the glaring obvious for decades?  Additionally, what substantive failsafe measures have been implemented to make certain racial differential treatment is not repeated?
