Thre is something lovely about the month of August -- a golden color to the warm sun that is unique to this month, a heat on the earth that seems to produce a richer flavor to the foods we harvest from the garden. And there is a most often a movement to relaxation and self analysis. In the early days of psychoanalytic practice, there was a trend to taking the month off for respite and insight. I love that idea. Instead, I dedicate a portion of Mondays to examine the mood -- mine, that of those around me, and here in 2020, the mood prevailing in our society.
