The Kaito & Red Show

A Nintendo Partner Direct happened, and we break down our highlights. Red played more Mass Effect 2 and explains why it didn’t really click with him so far. Kaito, on the other hand, not only made progress in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 but also started Dragon Quest VII Reimagined.

We don’t stop there, though. Red finished Neon Genesis Evangelion, and we unpack how we feel about it.

Oh yeah… and there’s something about loose poop.

We’re back with episode 30 after a forced break last week! We cover not one, not two, but three listener emails, discuss why you should hang on to your old NVIDIA 3060, and why Gabe is basically considered a villain in the UK.

But the best part? We dive into Kaito’s Xenoblade Chronicles 2 gameplay resulting in an epic 18-minute rant you definitely don’t want to miss!

Masahiro Sakurai got his own manga and the 3DS is getting a price hike, but that’s all fluff compared to how Dokapon Kingdom did Kaito dirty. It was Red’s first round, but it definitely won’t be his last.

You’ll also hear more about Chrono Trigger and where we currently stand with the story, including the settings Red changed that finally made the game click for him.

Red watched Elf for the first time, Santa delivered big for Kaito, and the holidays gave us plenty of time to game. We break down our Steam Winter Sale hauls, but the real headline? Red started Chrono Trigger for the very first time, while Kaito dove headfirst into the Bravely Default remaster.

Row, row, fight the power! Red finished watching Gurren Lagann, and it might put Kaito’s and Red’s friendship to the test. What won’t test our friendship, however, is our take on AI slop and what companies like Larian have to deal with right now.

Also in this episode: we played some Lords of the Fallen co-op, Red explains why you should play Cleared Hot, and in the Question of the Week we compare modern games with classic ones.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won nine awards at The Game Awards, and we want to talk about it (along with some of the other winners). We share our thoughts on the show as a whole because Kaito watched all of it live on UK time.

But that’s not all! Red takes us into the world of Linux to explore another path to gaming, and in the Question of the Week, we discuss mods.

Folks, sorry! We messed up the audio on Kaito’s track and it ended up recording through the webcam. A big facepalm moment, but it had to happen sooner or later. We hope you can still enjoy this episode. We’re sincerely sorry.

Have you heard of the Nemesis System? No? Great! Tune in and learn more about it and what Netflix’s attempted acquisition of Warner Bros. has to do with it. Also, Rockstar has new merch that’s rather exotic for a video game company.

Red shares his latest adventures in Night City, and Kaito is on the hunt for the biggest achievement in Guild Wars Reforged.

The Question of the Week turns time back 200 years and asks what we would have spent our days doing.
