In this episode of The Kamber Commentary 28:20, we conclude Matthew chapter 5 as Jesus continues revealing the true meaning of righteousness.
Moving beyond outward religion, Christ addresses the condition of the heart. He teaches about purity, the seriousness of sin, marriage and divorce, honesty without manipulation, responding to injustice without revenge, and the radical command to love our enemies. Each teaching points to a higher standard—not merely following rules, but becoming people whose hearts are transformed by God.
Jesus closes the chapter with one of His greatest challenges:
"You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect." (Matthew 5:48)
Join us as we discover that the righteousness Jesus calls us to is not achieved through human effort alone, but through a life surrendered to Him and empowered by His grace.

"Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you..." — Matthew 28:20
In this episode of The Kamber Commentary 28:20, we continue through the Sermon on the Mount as Jesus calls His followers to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
Christ then explains that He did not come to abolish the Law but to fulfill it, revealing the true heart of God's commandments. Moving beyond outward obedience, Jesus addresses the deeper issues of the heart—anger, reconciliation, purity, and lust—showing that genuine righteousness begins on the inside before it is ever seen on the outside.
This study challenges us to examine not only what we do, but who we are becoming as disciples of Jesus Christ.

"Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you..." — Matthew 28:20
In this episode of The Kamber Commentary 28:20, we begin one of the most influential sermons ever preached—the Sermon on the Mount.
Jesus opens His teaching with the Beatitudes, revealing the character God desires in every disciple. These are not merely attitudes to admire but qualities that grow in those who follow Christ. Together we'll explore what it means to be poor in spirit, to mourn over sin, to walk in meekness, to hunger and thirst for righteousness, and to become people through whom God displays His grace and truth.
We'll also examine Jesus' description of His followers as the salt of the earth, discovering how believers are called to preserve, influence, and point the world to Christ.

Sidebar
Not every verse means what we think it means.
One of the greatest differences between sound Bible study and spiritual confusion is understanding the difference between exegesis and eisegesis.
In this Kamber Commentary Sidebar, we examine why context matters, how Jesus explained that some hear the truth while others do not, and why Scripture must always be interpreted according to the author's intended meaning rather than our personal opinions or experiences.
We'll also look at commonly misunderstood passages such as Philippians 4:13 and Jeremiah 29:11, learning how context transforms our understanding of God's Word.
If we begin with ourselves, we'll eventually reshape Scripture to fit us.
If we begin with Scripture, God reshapes us.
Key Scriptures:
• Matthew 13:10–17
• Philippians 4:13
• Jeremiah 29:11
• Matthew 4:1–11
L.O.A.D. Challenge:
Learn to let God's Word speak for itself.
Obey what it actually says.
Apply its true meaning to your life.
Disciple others by handling Scripture accurately.

The Gospel of Matthew 4:1–25
Jesus overcomes temptation, begins His public ministry, calls His first disciples, and demonstrates the authority of the Kingdom of Heaven. Before He teaches the crowds, He first defeats the enemy.
John the Baptist has prepared the way, and now Jesus begins His earthly ministry. Before preaching to the multitudes or performing miracles, He is led into the wilderness where He confronts Satan and triumphs over every temptation through obedience to the Word of God. From there, Jesus begins proclaiming, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand," calls His first disciples, and reveals His divine authority through teaching, preaching, and healing.
This study examines the importance of spiritual preparation, resisting temptation through Scripture, responding to Christ's call, and following the King with wholehearted obedience.

Will you trust your feelings, your experience, or the unchanging Word of God?
Victory is found in knowing, believing, and obeying God's Word.
